When you buy a game, are you hoping for a high "fun factor"? Would you buy a game solely because its fun? When you read reviews, do you think that the "fun factor" should be part of what makes the final grade?
Just curious.

Not in System Wars, and even the whole internet now a days. Although there is a magical place I have heard of called the real world, and it's believed that fun counts there.black_tempest
Too bad most people here rarely visit the real world.
I've heard that as long as the graphics are as realistic as possible, then fun is superfluous.
The definition of "fun" can change. I find long and deep RPGs with well written dialogue and characters and a rewarding choices and consequences system to have THE biggest fun factor.
But some people think that you have to have guns and gibs and shiny graphix to have a "fun" factor.
Funny how you can easily spot the bitter sheep in this threadRuinedMachineMy post was was supposed to be humorous. Sorry your reading comprehension didn't pick up on that. As for the other comments, they have no mentioning of any of the consoles. So I'm not sure how you get off on calling people fanboys. It's usually the fanboy that first throws the F word.

I was trying to be funny too  Also, this is the first time I've been called a sheep, other times it's been cow, so thank you ^_^
Of course they are supposed to be fun...for me atleast,
fun isn't a part of a game, its the whole part of the game IMO.

Anyway, yes, of course I play most games for fun. I sometimes play other games just to see how overrated they are and so I can go on here and go, "I PWAYED GEARS OF WAR 2 AND IT SUXKS H8CORE!" Because, you know, everyone on System Wars is apparently like that, according to all you elitists.
I think some games has shifted from being fun to being a chore, and competitive which is not necessarily a bad thing. The games that are fun are sometimes viewed as being casual and those that are a chore or competitive are viewed as hardcore.dark-warmachine
I have only played the first 20 minutes of No More Heroes, but already I think it is hands down one of the best games I have played. Why? Becuase it's FUN.
Same goes for Disaster: Day of Crisis. Although it isn't amazing by any stretch of the imagination, the game is overall fun and I like it. People who disagree with this statement are fanboys, looking for t3h graffix, gunz and t3h bewbz.
I'm probably in the minority here, but I really don't play games for fun.
However, that's not to imply that I never have fun once in a while playing a game.
The same applies to movies and music.
I don't watch or listen to be merely entertained.

Wrong. You assume that "fun" means shallow thrills like some sort of mini game. Indeed, this is what the thread seems to be implying. But "fun" is actually based on the user. If you are having fun while reading text in a game, that's called "having fun."

I think it is all about the ejoyment, but sometimes indirectly. Maybe certain aspects like challenge aren't directly "fun," per se. But the reward from completing challenges are most certainly enjoyable.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma for the ps3, why? It's also one of my favorite games of all time because the combat is so fluid.
I play it for...
THE LULZ
QFT! :D But seriously, the only reason I play games is for the fun.Funny how you can easily spot the bitter sheep in this thread:RuinedMachine
you obviously missed the point of all three responses. silly question = silly answer.
i hearby banish you from System Wars, but you can return on the grounds that you develop a sense of humour.
Not really. The important thing about gaming is buying all the games and supporting the console manufacturer you like online in the message boards.foxhound_fox
Now we're talking! This is why I print out every post I make on System Wars and have them all saved in my Trapper Keeper. It has Mario on the front. He's fighting a Pirahna Plant.
Funny how you can easily spot the bitter sheep in this threadRuinedMachinelol its not often I agree with you, but I do lol @ the sheep in SW who try to suggest that you can only have fun on the Wii.

Another bitter sheep.
Why do you feel the need to point this out? Aw to heck with it, I'm going back to playing Parasite Eve.
Of course they are! That's the only reason I play games, is to have fun. Of course, ones definition of fun depends on the person and may be comprised of a variety of things. For example, people always ask me why I can't just sit down and watch a mediocre movie just to have a bit of fun, I always respond with,"Why should I when I have fun watching good movies?"
