are multiplayer FPS more popular on PC?

It doesn't seem so at all. I was playing MW2 on the 360 and compared it to a buddy of mine who has the PC version and look at the huge difference. Modern Warfare 2 is actually the most populated FPS game on thePC based on steam stats and you wouldn't find another shooter on game monitor with that many players. The second place goes to Counter Strike Source and third is Counter Strike.

There were over a million playing MW2 on the 360 and abount 160,000 playing on the PC. I know hermits will say the PC FPS community is spread out but even if you add all the people playing online FPS on the PC right now it wouldn't even come close to a million.

Thats cause, IW gimped the PC version and not many people with PCS cared to spend 50$ on a game that they really dont need seeing as how there are so many better options. While people with 360s completely ate this game up for some reason, doesn't say anything other than pc gamers have higher standards for shooters. I could find some random PC game that youve never heard of and still tons of people will be playing it. Try and find an online community for any console game thats more than 3 or 4 years old, dont bother because you wont.

multiplayer games on PC have a lot more longevity because they are better made. console games go to the next big thing while PC gamers still play ut2k4, ut2k, tf2, CS1.6, CS:S, BF2, BF1942, DOD:S, DOD1.6 etc. just because consoles have more people playing doesn't mean anything, most of them are just fad followers while a few actually enjoy the game for more than a few months while PC games last years and if there is never another team fortress game, decades(not saying Modern Warfare 2, halo or resistance is bad, just saying most people buy them because they are heavily marketed and it's the cool thing to do)

how can you add all the people playing online FPS on the pc? steam is used by a few people mainly in the west, another one is xfire and lots of pc gamers are in the east where such programs are not popular at all.SamiRDuran
