Are people giving the PS3 too much of a hard time software wise?

Sony PlayStation 3 Notables By the End of Year 1:

Microsoft Xbox 360 Notables By The End of Year 1:

Sony is doing just fine people. By The end of year one after launch its library will be equivalent to 360's first year..maybe even slightly better...just being honest here. Granted theres more than that out now for 360...it still shows the PS3 is going to be just fine. Most of us 360 owners were very happy with our first year library.

Thats a hell of a first year for PS3.

Competing with the 360's first year isn't going to cut it. Do you think MS has stopped publishing games for the 360's second year? or third? The PS3 has to catch up and then some soon, or the 360 will always be a year ahead.

People diss the ps3 because they are fan boys and cant accept give another system credit.

It's all good but many of the noteables on your PS3 list are also on the Xbox 360 and are not on your Xbox 360 list.

Your point?/ PS3 had more time and was able to learn from the mistakes of the 360, besides their all coming out all around the same time (The games). The devs had more time to spend with the system overall unlike the 360.

Absolutly, i mean look at that massive list of games for one year, thats very impressive for a first year. I think the ps3 is doing alot better than what most fanboys think, except that the price is the thing thats sinking the ps3 ship.

Rainbow Six , Assassins Creed , Stranglehold , Unreal Tournament 3 as well as those mentioned and many other games = wow , wow , wow for console's first year. That is one benefit of releasing after the 360.

20 of those are

1. Out of Xbox 360

2, Will come out multi-platform

All Xbox 360 were next-gen exclusive at time of release.

PS3 was late to get all those game that were already on Xbox 360

There are two reasons:
1. Price. For $600, especially after the hype from Sony, you expect more. Which ties into point two:
2. Exclusives. Of that list of PS3 games, only 7 are exclusive. Every other game on that list can be gotten on the 360, with the exception of MLB 07, which can be gotten on the PS2. For the 360, 9 are complete exclusives, 3 are console exclusives, and GRAW is so different from the other console versions it's basically a different game. Plus, almost all the PS3 notables that are out already and on the 360 as well are better on the 360. Which leads back to my point on expecting more...

Fanboy??? Hardly, I give dredit where credit is due, just because he said they werent exclusives doesnt mean he wasnt implying they were. If he wasnt Im sorry, but for me the PS3 isnt that impressive, and the OP didnt give enough info  for me to see what he was trying to say.

Doesnt matter we're here and now not then and there. So what should we say the 360's competeing with the PS2's first year and  360's is much better than  the PS2's??  Its what gonna make us happy, come to me when the PS3's games are  actually able to compete with the 360's or not all port's from it.

The point is look at that 360 library and what we all justified as a good console from november 17th 2005 - november 2006.  It really pales in comparison to that PS3 first year.

That's because you added more while I was writing my post.

Besides, in that case lets count the timed exclusives on the 360 as well. I count four on the 360 side: Fight Night Round 3, Oblivion, Splinter Cell, and Saints Row. Plus, Rainbow Six Vegas, on the PS3 side, hit the 360 seven months before the PS3 version.

timed exclusive in that scenario for the most part is a silly debate considering the PS3 wasnt even out yet.  Regardless theres alot more to play in PS3's first year than 360's first year. you cant really debate that or downplay it.

Wow the selection has gone down hill over the years. I don't see one single game for either system you have listed that interest me. Both of them better start getting better games if they ever want to see my money.

You're the one that brought timed exclusivity into this. Besides, it doesn't matter if the PS3 was out yet. The 360 version was out before the PS3 version. During that time it is exclusive to the console.

But, yes. Yes there is a lot to play on the PS3 during it's first year. And the reason people give it a hard time in terms of software is you can play a lot of that "lot to play" on the 360 for $200 less, and get access to the great exclusives the 360 already has.

That $200 less thing is a weak argument at this point. Cows have already factored in prices (not just on the surface level) , services , functionality , exclusives they want , reliability , support philosophy and decided that the ps3 is what they want and the way to go.

This is about first year content. (which looks to be amazing anyone would admit).

the ps3 is doin fyne with its list of games. But its just that there arent a lot of ps3's out there. They ship them to the stores, but only in small amounts maybe only 10 to 20 units. and the ps3 really needs a hit title that will sell PS3 consoles later on...like gears of war. People bought a 360 just to play gears.

While that's a nice list of games, and the Ps3's first year will be filled with goodness, thereis a huge problem with your argument:

You're playing the game of catch-up. This will always imply that the 360 is ahead of the PS3 until you can compare them on equal terms. Basically, yes, the PS3 will sell better than the 360 in it's first year, and will have more games... but we're on the 360's second year. Joe Random will not say "cool, the PS3 is better than the 360 was last year". He'll say "Woah, the 360 has more games and more people have bought it!... and it's cheaper!".

So, until you can say that right now the PS3 is doing as good as the 360 right now, any argument you come up with is moot to anyone who cares... which is anyone who hasn't made a choice.

People are completely giving hte PS3 way too much crap. 5-6 months in the 360s life there were only a few games worth playing, in that same time frame sony has produced two fantastic exclusives. Plus alot of good multiplats, older game but good nonetheless.

The problem with the ps3 is that is was suppose to be a machine way beyond the 360, that's why people are surprise the multiplatform games are better for the verry most part on the 360... Last gen, the ps2 ports all looked better on the xbox1, that's why it surprises... pretty simple

Agreed...well put.

Maybe bashing them for their first year library is a bit over played but the fact of the matter is we are playing games today...lets stop talking about what games we had at launch+1 year. Apples to Apples - Today to Today.

not really, at this point their line-up is kinda weak. thats just the truth.  It will get stronger of course, but they've got a long way to go to catch the 360....

....the same could be said about the Wii though, its not like it has a lot of stellar titles..... I only have Super Paper Mario & Zelda, I'm not really interested in anything else for it, atm.

Agreed...well put.

Maybe bashing them for their first year library is a bit over played but the fact of the matter is we are playing games today...lets stop talking about what games we had at launch+1 year. Apples to Apples - Today to Today.

I would have to completely agree.

Not to sanction the heavy PS3 bashing, but when a system is hyped as much as the PS3 is (120 fps in 4d?) and then has barely any noteable games and nothing more than a $200 less Xbox 360 can provide, it's going to incite some bashing.

Lets face it Xbox fans won't cut Sony any slack.

Im sure if the ps3 has been out 1 year longer than the xbox and the only AAA game the xbox had out after 6 months was a ps3 port then Sony fans would now be sticking it to Microsoft. ATM it can't be denied that the xbox has a better game catalogue.
