I'm going through some threads after the new Lair screens showed up, and I read that people are not impressed by Lair. They dismiss it like it was nothing. Am I reading that right? Are people honestly not impressed or are they just so closed off in their preferred system's world that they cannot appreciate games on another console? I do not own a X360, I do not hate, it's game line-up does not interest me at the moment, but I am not throwing out the possibility of ever getting one, and even then I can truly appreciate how beautiful GeoW looks -- that includes Mass Effect, too.
So what is it with fanboys trying to dismiss some of the more impressive looking games that the PS3 has to offer?
Just look at how huge Lair is!

If you truly cannot appreciate these graphics, then you are a complete and utter fanboy. The technical achievement is amazing. If you think GeoW looks good, then this game should blow you away considering the scenery and scope is bigger than GeoW by a factor of 5 (pun intended). Did I mention this game runs natively in 1080p? Also, remember that this is Factor 5, and just think of what they managed to do with the Gamecube in its early life cycle. These guys are no push-over.

I think some elements are fantastic, like the water and draw distance. However, the overall look and art style just doesn't seem.... right. I don't think it really makes me go wow unless I dissect it, which you can't do in motion.
im am it might not have the best textures but look at how big every thing is . also ppl might not know this but the screens are months old they were in a mag a while back

Yet Lair is suppost to be a system selling wonder game that makes people fork over $600+?

I am not impressed by the graphics. Sure some screenshots look great but the actual gameplay looks pretty poor. Color me unimpressed by another ps3 game with nice screen shots but poor looking gameplay.Â
Some of the dragons have good modeling, and i do mean some, but take a look at the enviroments and the soldiers. The game does not flow well and has a case of the shinies that everyone loves to point out about every other game.
See, I can understand if you do not like the art style of the game -- that's just fine. But to dislike it as a technical achievement and then spout off some nonsense that I have read like "X360 can do it better and prettier" is just asinine. That's what irks me.

I don't know, but for some reason...I'm just not digging it. I love the scope, I love the size, I think the premise is cool, I love Factor 5 (Rogue Squadron for GC was the reason I bought GC) but for some reason I cannot get into this game. I think it looks good, but it's not blowing me away. The dragon models look great, but that fire looks horrendous, and every single picture looks devoid of any type of lighting effect. I think they look faded and washed out. Maybe it's just my computer screen or something, because this game is not knocking my socks off (visually at least, still think it will be an awesome game). Call me a fanboy if you like, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

poor game play the last time u saw gameplay was at tgs . alos the new screen are not new at all. ive seen them a few months ago
they are good, but not the best i've ever seen. But the real problem is THIS: they made us beleive the game would look better. all this "ingame" crap video's that developers release early on that have nothing to do with how GAMEPLAY looks in the finished game.. it always feels like an ANTI-climax.

That's the thing though... the last bit of gameplay we saw is over a year old. I rarily judge a game based on its gameplay before the game is released. Is it true that the gameplay is lackluster right now? Sure, I understand that. Is it true to say that the gameplay will be lackluster once the game is finished? Nope.

The 360 can do overdone bloom lighting just as well, and with sharper textures. There's nothing about this that deserves being called a technical achievement.

I have no idea. All I know is that the soldiers on the bridge look like something out of an RTS game and that the overalll presentation is lacking and looks out of whack. One thing I definately notice is that the dragons stand out from the rest of the game and that even some of them are very unimpressive.
What is impressive is the modeling of the main dragon though. And before people say I am biased or whatever, the game I think deserves the most attention on the ps3 right now and seems to get the least is Heavenly Sword. That game looks fantastic.

Im sure most people thought Eargon was crap, i've not seen it. But those same people can also think that Lair's idea is crap and wont go out and buy it with a ps3
No, it actually just doesn't impress me that much. The world may be big but it's boring and ugly...miles and miles of bland rockiness. And the soldiers I've seen in other photos are equally uninspiring -- all wearing the same uniform, holding their shields and weapons the same way, and posed in perfect little grids. I'm all over the fantasy world thing, but look at Oblivion or Two Worlds (both multiplats) compared to Lair. I haven't seen it in person, which might make a big difference, but for the moment my guess is that it's generating hype because of the control scheme first and the graphics second.

For one, I have no idea what the game is about, as in what you do, now graphically....there is something wrong with the models, either it doesn't looks sharp enough or something. I can't put my finger on it, but I think the current screens are not great. Sure the water looks good, but even Morrowind on Xbox had good looking water. I need to see more of it when it's done. But right, I think the dragon models are not that impressive.
The screen shots look really good. But someone posted a video that has some in-game footage (I think it was an interview or something) and it doesn't look half as impressive as the screen shots. Hopefully the game does turn out to be amazing..

It's okay. Lair can be judged on old gameplay footage, but Halo 3 cannot. It's how things work around here. Anyway... I appreciate some of the comments in regards that you do not like Lair because you do not know what the game is about or the art style.
