Are people on this forum really hype for Wii Fit?

If you are, may I ask Why? I mean if you are trying to workout why not go out side. Or just buy DDR. I mean why is this a major selling point. When Sony made their work out games they didn't make it seem like the best thing coming out for their system so why are hardcore wii owners touting this thing around like it is the pinnacle of gaming.

When on a game forum such as this, it erks me that so called gamers here who defend the Wii as though they are casuals but...

The Wii Fit thing is just another example of the appeal of the Wii Nentendo sought to go after yet I would think gamers who spend time on the site would be the last to try to defend such a console ?

I'm going to get it personally because its an alternative to the hardcore content that is going to be on the wii this fall. I mean i can play smashbros online beat smg etc etc, however its not bad to have an alternative once in a while. I wont be using this for excersise because in no way will it make people lose weight because the activity is just not strenous enough unless you are 250 LBS plus, then it might have an infact on you. I dont know about many of you guys, but switching things up once in a while makes gaming less boring. I think that is why wii sports was somewhat popular.ssj_ken

Getting up and doing activity is always fun. The wii fit i wouldn't say is an actual game rather mini games that are to be taken as light entertainment.

Technically, Wii Fit is not a game. So what? Where is it written that every piece of interactive software has to be completely recreational? It certainly isn't true for the PC, so why should the fact that the hardware is hooked up to a TV make any kind of difference?

As others have stated, few if any Nintendo fans on GS have been hyping Wii-Fit, because it has little relevance in the gaming community. But again, that doesn't make it a worthless product.

Seriously, many experts and proffesionals in the medical and physical fitness industries have shown interest in this program's possible applications. How can anyone possibly consider this a bad thing?

Because I think it builds on DDR and looks like it might be has fun.

It like saying I think I will like R&C just because I like Mario. Kinda the same type of game but not.

Actually, witfit does meet the defintion of a game.

But still, there are games in it even if you don't consider the main part a game...like the soccer mini game.

I want Wiifit because it's a guaranteed AAAAE GOTY contender for the next decade (yes, every year within that decade), and it's going to move a billion Wiis in a surprise upset. I also heard it makes a great patio chair seat, your Wii will tell you the most comfortable way to position your buttocks. And every man needs that.

Seriously, though, the idea is interesting, but more interesting is what the execution will be like.

Agreed. The dance part on Wii fit was just plain bad! WiiFit has flop written all over it, I can't see this "game" getting any higher than a 7.5....Remember wiisports an A rating from here as well and wiiplay flopped hard with an 5.4. WiiSports was a 7.8, WiiPlay flopped at 5.4....has any of those games not flopped?

Hey TC open ur eyes & look around... you may have noticed that you're not the only one on the planet. Everyone doesn't like the same thing you do. You can think Wii Fit is crap all you like, and thats fine.... but are you such a huge flaming fanboy that it bothers you that other people think this is a "neat" innovation and a clever way for Nintendo to further target the non-gaming community.

Personally, I won't buy one, but I can tell that it will be a success. Well, on second thought maybe I will buy one, just to make you more angry that Nintendo made another sale, since it seems to bother you so.

game consoles are game consoles. PCs do so much more than consoles.So as a gaming platform if it has nothing to do with gaming then what is its purpose. what I am trying to get at is, why do people on this forum want it?

Just because the medium was originally created for videogames doesn't mean we can't find other practical purposes for it. That's like saying videogames shouldn't exist because TVs and digital computers weren't originally created for them, or that television is some kind of "deviation" from sound recording, film and radio. It just doesn't make sense to be close-minded about the uses of any sort of communication medium.

As for why some people on this forum might want it (though again, I wouldn't go as far to say they've been "hyping" it), I think the answer is pretty obvious. Either they want to get fit, or they see the potential of balance board to enhance regular gaming. Those are both perfectly valid reasons, by the way.

PS: Thanks! Talim is a darling isn't she? She's also the only character I've even come close to mastering. :)
