Are people still Buying the Ps3 just For Movies?

I havent seen any big releases for the system this year either except for a 40$ demo and a movie that was 25% playable :|

The only decent game the system got thus far was an inferior version GTAIV without any upcoming DLC and sub par HD display, it sold less than poorly.

Dont flame me Im not trolling, tell me what decent Ps3 game has been released this year and dont say Mgs4 because nobody except die hard fans are getting into it apparently.

what a waiste of space on system wars.... an xbox fan, asking why people buy PS3 instead of asking why the 360 has still the RROD problems, why he's paying for online, why NO big releases so far this year (other than the disappointing NG2) etc etc..

It has quite a few decent exlcusives as well as all the hit multiplats, making it a very viable $400 purchase that comes with a blu-ray player.

I've never played an mgs game yet I found it to be one the most entertaining games I've ever played.

In fact, I'm picking up MGS Essential Collection in a few days 8)

MGSIV is already enough since its basically the best game (and unlike those who havent even played the game, its a GAME not a Movie, but fanboys always need to find something to bash)..... MLB: The Show is a great title..... + great multiplats (GTAIV, DMC4, BF:BC, RSV2, Burnout Paradise, GRID etc etc)...

Keeping in mind its also a Blu-ray player and that HD DVD is practically dead, its a huge plus, along the free online service....

Halo 3 isn't broadly appealing. It appeals to FPS fans. That would make it's appeal quite narrow.

PS3 sales went up like 150% when MGS4 came out, not to mention the PS3 was already outselling the 360 here in America so far this year.

BTW : GTA4 PS3 was named by Rockstar to be the DEFINITIVE Version. Forget fanboy's, why did Rockstar say that? Perhaps GTA4 has something going for it on BOTH PLATFORMS. Anyways, this has been a slow year FOR ALL THE CONSOLES, but you could always go back and play Uncharted, Ratchet, Resistance, and others.

well, when you get techincal like that, of course theres no games for the playstation 3.

Personally, Shooters don't appeal to me, partially because they are too hard.

I really like platformers, and really wanna get LBP, but that might not appeal to someone else.

Halo 3 has a huge fanbase, but does that appeal to 60 year old peaceful grandmas, or 3 year old little girls who love hello kitty? No.

The game that has been officially announced that probably will attract a lot of people will be LBP. It looks fun, cute, easy. You can make the levels as hard or as easy as you want, it all depends on your imagination.

But until that game comes out, its gonna be hard to find a game that has a general appeal.

So, you gotta stop being so nitpicky.

BTW, name a game on the PC, 360, or the Wii that has a really broad appeal.

Mario Kart- Haha. No. But still has huge potential.

Halo 3- Nope.

Crysis- Guess again.

Super Mario Galaxy- has huge potential. But still won't appeal to a lot of people in their teens and or younger adult years (below 25).

A lot of other great games out there will appeal to certain ages, and certain groups, but not as broad ranged as i think you are hoping for.

The game with the highest appeal to a high range of people will probably GH3. It appeals to both the young and the older, because it has songs on there ranging from the late 60's all the way to 2006. Not sure you can count that game since its a multiplat though.
