The wii is reminding me of the PSP right about now. Launched with loads of hype. A lot of quality titles flopped, and now devs just give it shovelware.leejohnson7
Wrong.
A lot of quality titles flopped AT GAMESPOT.
Despite what you may think, the average person or developer doesn't go to Gamespot for the ultimate determination of how good a game is.

Highly critical reviewers. If you don't agree then you need to post somewhere else, and not on gamespot. I'd rather gamespot than some gaming website that gives everything a 10 because it works okay.

You don't have to agree with GS's reviews to enjoy their discussion boards. Sorry.[QUOTE="sexy_chimp"][QUOTE="leejohnson7"]The wii is reminding me of the PSP right about now. Launched with loads of hype. A lot of quality titles flopped, and now devs just give it shovelware.leejohnson7

No, Gamespot isn't critical in their reviews, their just bad. They underrate tons of games and overrate tons of others. I come here for the forums because their the best, but everything else sucks.
Sheep? I guess that's code for something
As far as being like the Gamecube? Umm in what way?
3rd party devs stayed away from the Gamecube. On the Wii they're abandoning both the 360 and the PS3 to make games for it. They're building studios just to make games for the Wii. They apologize for games that aren't up to snuff and explain that they're just trying to get games to market.
How is that like the Gamecube at all?
Im not really surprised, I bought a Wii thinking there would be some decent 3rd party support, but mainly the fantastic 1st party games, as usual.
Can't wait to get a 360 so i'll have all the great Wii exclusives, and all the great 360 exclusives and multi plats.

You don't have to agree with GS's reviews to enjoy their discussion boards. Sorry. Its for arguements sake. And I believe there was a thread stickieda while back, maybe a year or so, where people voted that only gamespots reviews count on gamespot system wars. It prevents people picking out what reviews they like - having double standards.
If they were treating it like the Gamecube, they wouldn't be making games for it at all... At least there are games even if they are crappy games...
For example... once Far Cry drops below 10... I'll pick it up for the humor of it...

Well, that really dosen't mean I have to concede and say that a game sucks because GS says it does. You said "sheeps" and option four is incorrect. Wii is the only console that actually plays current-gen, whilst all the others play like last-gen. You really are an ignorant fool, aren't you?Hexagon_777
You will find that the 360 has had the best games up to now, in all aspects, aside from PC, which is always undefeated.

Well, that really dosen't mean I have to concede and say that a game sucks because GS says it does.I suppose but system wars has always worked by using objective information like scores and sales with subjective screenshots of graphics thrown in, it keeps things interesting.

The 360 has one exclusive AAA title on gamerankings despite having a headstart of one year. In addition to that, one can even debate if that AAA titles is exclusive or not. Anyway, that still doesn't explain him saying that the Wii plays like last-gen although it is the only console to have introduced a new way of playing games. 360 controller? Yea, a normal controller. PS3 controller? Same old, same old. PC? A mouse? Self-explanetory.
Guys, why even respond to these kinds of threads? It just encourages more bad behavior and rewards the fanboys. It's like rewarding and paying attention to a bad dog that just crapped on the rug and giving him a dog biscuit and saying "good doggie" and patting him on the head. That's part of why System Wars is what it is today, with a bad reputation like a slummy, gang infested, criminal wasteland that normal people are afraid to go to.briguyb13
Relax, everyone knows this is flamebait, just have some fun with the guy.
Did you just say 'sheeps'? :|dracula_16
Sheeps is the plural of sheep...just like cheaps is the plural of cheap....oh wait!

You are probably forgetting PDZ, though, to help my credibility, strike that from the record. Ohh wait you said gamerrankings. Well we don't use it as the standard here so...

I know, I just wish there was more intelligent SW discussions ya know? This place is full of bad doggies. :Poh the situation would be alot worse if they treated it like a gamecube. at least there putting some resources towards wii development....the GC was completly ignored.
as for the quality.....its frustrating and.well...kinda sad really imho.
there are some 3rd parties that just arent bothering at the mo. ubisoft have already apologized because they know they messed up with most of their titles. others are just trying to cash in on wiis success and are doing a terrible job (thankfully the vast majority of these games are selling next to nothing). in a way, like the PS2, the wii is a victom of its own success....everyone wants to get in early. thats frustrating for wii customers imho. if 3rd parties really want to see returns on their investments then they will need to put in the effort. simple minigame collections will simply not cut it anymore.
whats sad...and also a little frightening, is just how pedestrian and unimaginative 3rd parties are. its easy to make great looking games on great hardware....but take away the high end graphics and standard controller and offer something different and devs are completly stumped. this is supposed to be a creative industry and yet the majority of devs are waiting to see what nintendo do first. why did we have to wait for MP3 to get FPS controls right....why didnt someone else beat them to it. EA have tons of experience with PC games, they know about putting in options for user choice in terms of sensativity. and yet it has taken them a few games before they implemented a similar system for wii (the MOH;H2 control setup options look ace). new markets? again there waiting for nintendo to do it first. didnt any 3rd party dev think that something like nintendogs might be a good idea for DS? only after the game was released and sold 15 million worldwide. i can only count 2 games that have tried to use the wiimote anc nunchuck in an interesting way. red steel (which was unfrotunately not finished upon release and still needed loads of work done) and trauma center. ppl are also crying out for games with more depth on wii and what has been the answer from 3rd parties? nothing. nada. zilch. there is a huge gap there that nintendo cant fill at the mo....and 3rd parties have nothing to show. thats pathetic, it really is and it says alot more about 3rd parties that it does about the wii imho.
one dev said that ure biggest competitor on a nintendo platform is nintendo. well if they want to compete then they better get their bloody act together. come up with new ideas, be ambitious, try and beat nintendo to the punch. there are still gaps the size of buses to be filled on wii. ninty cant fill them because there only one company.

Wasn't that rule abolished? Furthermore, wouldn't you agree that several reviews > one review? PDZ got around 80% on gamerankings yet on gamespot it gets a 9.0? Don't you find that to be a bit suspect?

Exactly, if Konami made MGO for Wii, I'd buy it over the ps3 version without thinking twice (if they used the MoH:H2 control setup). I would buy RE5 if on Wii, and so on. Games that take the wii seriously will be bought, ike no more heroes and dewy's adv.

I agree 100%. Third-party efforts lately have been terrible in general... and then there's Conspiracy which makes games like Ninjabread Man (shudders).
