Are the media trying to blanket pc gamings?

Having been (and currently) a person on the internet, it was rather perturbing to see "Shadowrun: Hong Kong" a stand alone game to a very well received PC RPG, completely ignored by Gamespot.

Then, looking at the "new releases today", the newly released "Act Of Aggression" was completely omitted, one of the major pc titles of the year. this huge disparity; even going as far as to focus on movies, rather than pc games, indicates a complicit narrative.

For example: Even though Destiny scored a 6, panned; it currently has 10940668 articles, with 25 articles a day to indicate a Bungie staff member has gone to the bathroom.

Is it a disgrace that journalistic objectivity for such a veteran, innovative platform producing quality games is being ignored in favor of (apparently) shilling to major publishers?

Could this partially be a contributing factor to the much maligned "pc gaming is dead" when these are the main sourced of information the general public digest?

It has little to do with platform bias and far more to do with AAA bias. While GameSpot does occasionally cover indie games, they only do so if those indie games are being promoted by a major AAA-like marketing campaign. One of my favourite recent releases, Steins Gate, received no GameSpot coverage at all for much the same reasons. There are a lot of indie companies that just can't afford a decent marketing campaign to promote their products. That's just the way the industry and media works.

It's not worth it. Will those games you mentioned sell a decent amount? I guess, sure...why not.

The news sites feed what people want to hear. So more articles about the big games, less articles about the smaller ones.

Act of War sounds great sure, but I don't think the publisher is making a huge enough fuzz for websites like Gamespot to take notice.

If anything, pc has been seeing more recognition now than in the last ten years.

This has truth to it but at the same time it doesn't dismiss what the TC is saying. PC is huge these days, it can't be ignored now, however by 'news' organizations like GameSpot, IGN etc, it's being shoved off to the side as if it doesn't exist in all of this.

It's being reported on less than the Wii U, that's pathetic...

I think it has more to do with most of the GS staff primarily playing on PS4 (before you flip I'm not saying that theres anything wrong with having a platform of preference).

Its hard to talk about games you arent playing, especially RTS games that take time to actually learn and know enough to write something about them.

Completely agree with the OP. The thing is big sites like GS/IGN are payed by companies to promote their shitty rehash games. Just look at the back banners its all EA shit with madden metacritic filler for the two crapsoles.

PC has no one to back it up. Consoles have Sony and Microsoft... They can advertise the crap out of their games, arrange review events, send free copies, buy ads etc. They also have dedicated websites and blogs just to boost metacritic.

PC developers on other hand only have resources to make a great game and hope that it is received well and becomes famous through positive word of a mouth. It has always been like this but now more than ever before. Luckily, more advertisement =/= better game.

I don't think so Jank. Tons of crap PC indie games under review here all the time and on IGN and every time Chris Roberts farts we get a new Star Citizen Special Feature talking about how many more millions it's made.

Divinity OS 2 constantly in the spotlight ever since it was announced as well (as it should be) ditto the Pillars expansion.

^Holy shit, it's a fucking miracle that PC is first place at Metacritic and Gamespot AAA/AA/A counts given the fact that console is full of filler metacritic reviews and press review events, on top of the huge marketing machine.

Seeing as how GS reviewed the Shadowrun Returns, Dragonfall, and even the awful (and unrelated) Boston Chronicles, I'm sure they'll get around to it. RPGs in particular take a while to review properly.

Crap PC indie games. ;) Read between the lines. Still no Gamespot review of The Book of Unwritten Tales 2. It's just a small example. The list of PC games is coming in mind.
