The NES ones are wicked hard. The SNES Gameboy ones are all great (one of them is a rerelease of the SNES game, but it's still great).

I have Links awakening and Minish Cap. Both will take a while to beat and they are both worth playing (more so than TP)

A Link to the Past, in my opinion, is the best Zelda game. It is the epitome of the series.

Get Link to the Past as soon as you find it, it's the best Zelda game for sure.

Those 5D ones sucked. I had no idea what I was doing, you played as Tingle, and Ganondorf was a chick. The 2D ones are still excellent, though.

Link to the Past. First Zelda game I ever played on my SNES. Back then I loved this game so much mostly because of the all the dungeons and all the different items you would get such as the hookshot, bombs, hammer, master sword, bow, boomerang, etc.

Hell yes.

Start by playing Minish Cap and A Link To The Past on the NDS using the GBA port. I believe some of the other Zelda's are available in Gameboy Advance cartage format as-well.

IIRC, Zelda, Zelda II and A Link to the Past are all available on the Wii's Virtual Console.

Absolutely, and most are masterpieces. Link to the Past is one of the best in the series and you need to get it right away; it'll take hours upon hours to beat. Minish Cap is terrific, almost as good as LttP but it's short. Link's Awakening is just as good if not better than TMC, and it'll take far longer to beat; though LttP is longer. The Oracle games are better than LttP imo if you play them as one whole story, and combined they will take longer to beat than LttP. The first Zelda has obviously aged but is still fun and will take some time to beat. The Adventure of Link is hard as **** and the worst in the series, but it is beatable andsomewhat addictingwhen you get the hang of it, though it'll take you a huge amount of time to complete. Also, Four Swords is a seperate game on the GBA cartridge of LttP, but you have to have friends with copies of the game to beat it and it's shorter by far than TMC.

Definitely, they wouldn't have made Zelda 3D if the 2D ones weren't great too right? A Link to the Past is pretty good, and I played Minish Cap which surprisingly an outstanding game.

The original Zelda is a classic although painful on the eyes. A Link to the Past was amazing and still is quite playable today.

Although I wouldn't recommend Link's Adventure personally.

Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages if you're looking at GBC Zelda games, not made by Nintendo, but considered to be great games (you can even run into my namesake) and A Link to the Past (also available on VC and GBA) are solid choices to get you into the world of 2D Zelda. The upcoming Wind Waker sequel on DS would actually be a poor choice, as it plays quite differently than a "classic" 2D Zelda, if that's what you're trying to test out.

The 2D Zelda games are great for the most part, I was never a huge fan of the first two though. Legend of Zelda DX: Links Awakening and A Link to the Past are both phenominal games and imo two of the best in the franchise. Oracle of Ages and Seasons were both solid games as well. I did not like Minish Cap though, you could sometimes barely see your character when you shrunk down and the game itself was rediculously easy.

ALttP is one of the best Zelda games, either the best or the second best. I am actually still stuck on a dungeon, I put the game aside some time ago. Minish Cap was short and great. LA isnt bad either, I liked them all.

Blarg, I found it actually somewhat of a low point, flame me as you wish. It's items weren't very great and only thing making the world anywhere close to large would be the fact taht it had a mirrored version of itself.

The world in Link to the Past is bigger and is more heavily populated than Ocarina of Time, even without the dark world. I don't see how you could possibly argue that.

zelda 1 is hard. Finding the last dungeon, I haven't done it yet. Actually my brother cheated to see it, and when he saw me play he said I was so close to finding it. That kind of comment ruins it for me.

Zelda 2 is the best of Zelda. It challenges you. The other Zelda aren't so much a challenge. Maybe LttP if you don't nab any hearts at all.

Agreed. I played a little bit of Links adventure. Couldn't be bothered to finish it. it just didn't feel like a true Zelda game at all.

The 2d zelda give you a very different experience to 3d zeldas despite having the same name.

Where 3d zeldas tend to have more developed stories and town/dungeon layouts, 2d zeldas are much harder especially battlewise, since bosses tend to take more than 4 hearts compared to the tamer 3d zelda boss battles.

I played minish cap and a link to the past and I would recommend them, 2d zeldas also tend to have more replay value since there is always so much to do after beating the final boss
