Are there any games like Sims 3 on PS3/360 but in a different genre?

Well, i just bought the Sims 3 for my mom on the PS3. Needless to say, i no longer "own" my PS3. Its a huge hit for her. I'm actually thinking about getting it for my 360 since i can see my self grinding up the sims to build a better house than her lol. Anyhow, i really like all the micromanagement involved. Is there any war games that uses this set up or any others you may think of that very "simmy?" I would like to get it.

The Sims seems to have very little serious competition for some reason.

Mafia bosses. In all honesty, everyone wants to blow stuff up and how do you try and market a rivial to the highest ever selling series? Also the sims doesnt transfer well to consoles. Its like playing an RTS but worse. Its really a game that requires mouse and keyboard and again they are not really supported on consoles :(.

Agreed. I have The Sims 3 for both PC and Xbox 360 and frankly the PC version is a much better experience. There are more expansions for PC, less loading times, better graphics, and not to mention the wonderful mods available such as the story progression mod created by nraas.

well your no doubt right about the sims. Heres the thing though. I nor my mom have ever played it on the PC so we don't know what we are missing. That being said, my mom loves the game. To her its like game of the decade so that whats important. For the record i did tell her the PC is way better but she don't have the money for a new computer atm. Anyhow, I may look at getting a new one in 6 months or so. But for now shes having a blast and i think its fun too. I'll look into mafia bosses though, but is that on the consoles?

Perhaps Tropico 4. It's for PC and 360.

Tell your mom to get it like on PC she will not regret it. I am usually the type that never says anything like that but yes PC is a must have experience. I don't think there's a virtual life sim game that tops that series. But you might like the city builder sims like Sim City and Anno or whatever. Tropico 4 is really fun to play. I just started the game up once and when I figured out how to play hours have passed and I completed a mission or two.

I f'ing LOVE Tropico! Although I'd say it's a bit more like Simcity than The Sims.
