After Gamespot was exposed it's pretty clear that this site is about as corrupt as they come and CNET is run by a bunch of suits who put profit above integrity.

That said are there any sites/magaizines you trust to give their honest views on a game regardless of threats from publishers?

For me i'd say Edge and EGM/1UP

I think it is stupid to use the word "trust" in this context regardless of what site/mag you are talking about. Because basically, all you are REALLY saying is, "is there any sites/magazines thattell you onlywhat you want to hear?"

Read the WORDS in the reviews and make up your own mind. Everyone has different opinions. There is no RIGHT one.

I would have to go with IGN. I have always like their reviews the best.

Game Informer, they only give 9's and 10's to games Gamestop is overstocked on.

Oh yeah, and Play magazine, when all you give is a 9 or a 10 everyone wins.

Let's not forget the patented Gamepro review system which can range anywhere between 4/5 and 5/5.

I am asking whether there are any magazine you TRUST to give their honest opinions on a game. It has nothing to do with whether you agree with them or not

I rarely agree with EGM's reviews but i trust them to give games the scores they want to

Game Informer, but thats cos it's free. But websites? GamesIndustry.Biz and Kotaku.com are the big ones for me since I usually only Post and Read Up on Games while at work.

I never got into Gametrailers reviews until just the last few months. I must say that they seem to do a good job.

I don't trust anyonebutmyself. I do use reviews to give me a lowdown as to whether I may like the game or not but I know fairly well in advance of a game release whether I will like it or not.

What about games like Lair. I mean AAA publisher, high presentation value... Without reviews for games like that (that honestly do look really, really good) we'd be screwed.

I still trust GS reviews there not ridiculous like gamepro's reviews or some of gametrailers reviews. EGM and IGN are also fantastic sites for mostly accurate reviews of games.

I actually like EGM...

Having 3 different reviewers for each game is a genius idea and should be followed by all major gaming publications.

Some games have vastly different effects on people and it's not uncommon to see one reviewer give a game an 8.5 while the others give it 5's.

Ummm, I still like Gamespot's reviews...I think they have only been getting better in recent memory. The little symbols at the head of the review indicate noteable strengths and weaknesses as seen by the reviewer and the in-depth coverage more clearly illustrates both the good and the bad. I like that they find good things in bad games and finely scrutinize the details of our holy grail hallmark titles.

Sure, there are other sights and magazines that I follow as well and I try and take more of a collective approach before settling on an iffy title but my general concensus is I, most of the time, agree with Gamespot.

Is that different?

GameTrailers reviews are my new favorite they are very in-depth and they tell me what I want to know before I buy game I don't care about the scores. Gamespot used to be the same but took a nose dive about a year ago.

I don't trust any reviews because I have found some games that didn't score very well that were great and some that had high scores that were just junk.
