Are wrestling games good anymore?

They are lazy games with zero effort has been made. same like FIFA and madden. just roster update and reuse same assets.

unfortunately thats what AC odyssey is and its getting 9/10. disgusting.

The last great wrestling game that I played was WWF No Mercy on the N64.

This. If they just remastered that one, and added online, I'd pick it up day one.

I don't like the fact that they are sims. Every time I try to get back into them they have shit like momentum and crowd reactions or some other thing that alludes to it being sports entertainment. Here Comes the Pain didn't need any of that. I find it difficult to get into them. They are not accessible.

Fire Pro is where it's at. It still feels like a game. I will say I have played the recent years sparingly but it's a far cry from the magnificent WWF Wrestlefest on arcade.

The old arcade games far surpass 90% of what each "new" 2k game brings to the table and these new(er) releases do not validate the $59.99 price tag.

People say fire move pro I've tried it and it doesn't grab me. Here comes the pain was epic on the ps2 probably the greatest roster on any game. The 2k games feel awkward to me.

@mandzilla: Better than it has been for years outside the WWE. Thanks to the internet we can now see a whole lot more variety and don't have to swallow the writing on Raw just to get our fix.

Fire pro wrestling World is the best wrestling game I have ever played. I havent played anything this good since NWO/Revenge, however this is the first fire pro wrestling game I have played. Its annoying the update stopped the mods from working as I really want a descent royal rumble and I don't want to role back the game. But apart from lacking a few American match rules its an ambsolute quality game.

Perfect for setting up dream matches and watching the a.i fight too. Some of the matches I've watched have been olmost identical to the real thing, with quick comebacks and wins out of nowhere.

I think the artsyle is what makes it work so well. Too. 2k try and go for realism and end up with something that looks really unrealistic with glitchy animations.

I'm so glad fire pro came along.. If it wasn't for that game I'd say yes they suck, and have sucked for a very long time.

N64 had the best wrestling games with No Mercy, Revenge and Wrestlemania 2000. The Smackdown series was good on PS1/PS2. The Day of Reckoning games on Gamecube were good. I don't think there's been a good wrestling game since though.

Fire Pro on PS4 is pretty good, but The 2K games continue to be trash.

Last one i played that i liked was Wrestlemania 2000 on n64. Diddnt like the ps2 ones much, Def Jam FFNY was the last great game to have that 4 player co-op style brawler

I stopped liking wrestling when i was 12 years old. But tried to play the wwe game that came out in 2017 and... boring as hell.

The WWF Smackdown games were great on PS1 and PS2. Not sure about modern wrestling games though.

They suck now, and since WWE is pretty much the only big name mainstream brand, we only get shitty quality from Yukes Entertainment, and 2K just cashes in. Seriously, Yukes used to be good with Day of Reckoning 1 and 2 for the GC and the Smackdown games on the PS2. Also, they used a completely broken engine when everytime they try to improve it, it always ends up with a ton of new bugs.

Also, I'm still pissed how they're treating Asuka after a historic NXT career. Vince doesn't like her because she can't speak English well.

I still play Fight for New York sometimes. May not even really be a wrestling game, but it's still the best.

Fire Pro World is good but it needs to be played on PC with Carlzilla's mod suite.

Only wrestlers in my database are old school cause faaaak modern wrestling.

Last wwf game I played was Warzone on the N64. In my defence I was in my early 20s and didn't know any better in those days, I haven't been near a wrestling game since.

Last great wrestling games were on the N64, so much so I bought one (the only Nintendo console I have ever purchased) after that they sucked the big one.

Wrestling games peaked on PS2 with SYM/HCTP/SVR/SVR2006/SVR2007. Everything released after the PS2 era has been garbage.

Wrestling games died the second they went multiplat.

Those PS2 Smackdown games are all vastly superior to No Mercy. No Mercy is overrated by nostalgia filled Nintendo fanboys.

I have WWEK18 on the Switch. Even without the performance issues the game would be trash. It's just a shameless cash grab from 2K. I know EA are hated a lot on this forum but even EA could make a Wrestling game much better than 2K. Their FightNight and UFC games have been excellent imo.

Actually thought day of reckoning was pretty good just think it was made difficult because of the GameCube pad. Nothing will beat wcw revenge and wrestlemania 2000 but wcw world tour has to get a mention as it had all the Japanese wrestlers.
