Are you a cheater?

OK - so I'm a cheater. I love cheats and always have done..... yet I know so many who say they ruin games and spoil enjoyment by making things too easy, unlocking things without earning them isn't right etc etc.....

I find that there's a distinct lack of in-built cheats in todays games - probably because in the early days, cheats were often there to make it possible for the coders to navigate the game whilst testing it (level select cheats and that kind of thing).... whereas now, it's evolved to make it easier to test things without the need for "cheats". I always felt the best cheats though, were ones that programmers put there deliberately as a secret for people to find.

Favourite cheat of all time? Super-sonic and the level select/debug mode cheat on Sonic 2 for the Megadrive/Genesis. You know, I could still tell you which test tracks you have to play in the options to activate those cheats, I entered them so many times lol

Where do you stand on cheats? For me, I cheat as often as I can, I just plain like doing so.... The only time where I have ever been against it, was when I was into Forza 2 around the release - all the cash I made on that, in-game, came from hard work of painting and selling cars. I wouldn't cheat on principle at that(!) ha ha

I only use cheats in games like GTA...and that's only after I finished the game.

I NEVER cheat in multiplayer modes.

No i learnt at a very young age that cheating on games ruins the fun.

As for people who cheat on online games it must feel good to be such a loser in a virtual world.

If it's single player and there's a part that just requires repetition to get just right then sure. I don't have time to waste on memorizing portions of a game.

I used only for one game(san andreas) and then after i have never used and will not...If i got stuck somewhere in any game like in Braid i could not complete one puzzle,i will use walkthrough which is better then cheat..

Oh yeah - I forgot to add that I don't cheat in multiplayer either..... unless it's against my brother and he doesn't know about it, by which case it's hilarious to frustrate the hell out of him.

I'm a big fan of cheats in the GTA games too - I lost count of the number of times I pulled up that mobile phone on GTA IV!

Depends on the game.

I love the GTA cheats (before GTA IV got rid of them...). Those were pretty much the only games I cheated frequently on. In GTA 3, I remember being so frustrated with the final mission that I decided to cheat and spawned a tank in order to finish it.

About 4 years ago, back when I used to play Soldat 1.2 with my buddies, I came across quite a few cheats for it and...we had fun cheating our asses off in online MP games. I'm talking free flying around levels, the ability to respawn instantly, exactly where we died (especially useful in CTF games :P), the ability to use the sniper rifle as a minigun (people were pissed at me for doing that...) and so on. We didn't use these cheats for long until we decided it was too cheap for us to do it and then vowed to only cheat when players on the other team were cheating, to level the playing field.

Good times. Good stuff.

Nowadays, I rarely cheat, even if I have the option. I hate it when my opponents cheat and I'd rather not subject others to that level of cheapness in order to win something as thoroughly meaningless as an online multiplayer game.

Grand Theft Auto. That's about it.

I only cheat in school and in marrage, never in videogames :P

I sometimes use cheats after I finish a game or unlock everything there is to unlock. Otherwise, I rarely use them if at all.

Yes I cheat, in single player, but thats only after I beat the game once.

I cheat in split screen by messing with the person next to me, punching pushing, throwing a cat on them...

I couldn't vote because my option wasn't up there. I rarely cheat, but when I do, it is only on a singleplayer game and only after I have already beaten it. I never cheat in multiplayer games. And as for if I would cheat after beating a game if it effected my trophies. Yes I would because trophies mean nothing to me.

I rarely cheat, when I do cheat it is in singleplayer after I have beaten the game and only if achievements/trophies aren't blocked.

I can't recall the last time I used a cheat in a game.

A cheat in sp for the fun of it (I don't save though) or after I finish a game. At MP someteimes (like exploiting bugs), but not big enough to actually affect the match. Although for bug free games I don't bother to get a cheat engine too troublesome.

Nope hate cheating/cheaters.... I've never cheated at a game ever.... only time I've ever used cheats is if I've already done everything there is to do, and I'm just screwing around.

Nope, not really. Ever sinceI started gaming I never quite saw the point of using cheats. To me its letting the game beat itself for you, and I just don't see why thats fun. Lots of my friends used cheats in things like pokemon and beat the crap out of me yet I was the one still playing and enjoying the game months to even years later. Maybe i'm just weird like that.

Same here, I love Zelda but am horrible at puzzles so I need a walkthough most of the time.I know its sad but i did make it all the way to the water temple in TP without help if that earns a credit.

ill usually beat the game then go around throwing cheats at things for the lulzshadow_hosi

I cheat in Single Player after the game is beat I don't cheat in Multiplayer. If I do use cheats in Multiplayer it is with my friends and it is usually stuff like in Goldeneye stuff like DK mode (The characters bodys are proportioned like Donkey Kong) Paintball Mode (The guns shoot Paintballs) one cheat I liked in Metal of Honor Front Line (I think) was Achilles Head cheat it made the game harder because Achilles Head made it one shot kill for the Enemies you had to shoot them alot but the enemies just took one shot at you and it was always a headshot.

But the cheats I use in Multiplayer are always Unlockable after you beat the game.
