Are you, System Warriors?
For me...no. There are games that I really, really, really like but I don't call myself a fan to that game/series.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I am a fan of many series, mainly Nintendo ones. But there are others... here are some of my faves.
Zelda, Mario, Kirby, Metroid, Pokemon, Castlevania, Metal Gear, Half Life, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Dead Space, Soulcalibur, Viewtiful Joe, Silent Hill...
Maybe I'm not really a fanatic for most of those series but I like them alot.
Sure am! I'd call myself a fan of:
That's about it off the top of my head. I'm sure there are more though if I sat and considered it for a while.
Secret of Monkey Island series.
Tomb Raider series
FIFA
The MS Flight Simulator series
Command and Conquer series (except for the last one)
Crysis series (all three)
The Total War games
I always consider Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Zelda and Mario my top 5.
But just to make it top 10, lets throw in Halo, God of War, Uncharted, Grand Theft Auto and Street Fighter.
Crysis / Warhead / 2 should be in there somewhere, those are some of my favorite games of all time. I must have played through them a dozen times, on Delta, without being seen (at least in Crysis 1 I did that, the AI is a bit different in Crysis 2).
Of course, you really aren't a fan of a single game TC? I find that hard to believe.meetroid8
Yeah.
I have no continuing series game that I would consider myself a fan of. Well...scratch that. I do have Portal and Portal 2 but I can certainly see problems in them, great games but not games I would devote my entire life to. Play them on and off, go back for some dialouge, maybe help some Portal 2 newbies in the Co-Op, not much.
Mass Effect 2 is a fantastic game but I won't pledge undying alliegence to it simply because it is a great game but I feel there are better games out there than it and the game does indeed have some errors.
I thought of myself as a Sims 3 fan but...nah, I like the game A LOT but I'm not rushing out there to buy every single expansion pack and say to the world that no other game can beat it. Maybe buy another one this year just to see how it is or so but not become a fan and buy everything Sim related.
TF2 was interesting when I started playing it...now I play it on and off (course I still was able to get over 300 hours out of the game :P).
I really have no devotion to any series or game. If it's a game in a series that I really like I will probably buy it. If it's a game that looks like something I'll like I'll buy it. Nothing more, and nothing less.

If this is how you're defining "fan", then I've never been a fan of a game in my entire life. Sounds like you mean fanboy.

Well...what is fan, exactly? What is the word that fan is used to shorten?
EDIT: Forget the middle part...that was a really stupid comment because I'm pretty sure you never actually INVENTED a definition.
...except for the System Wars lingo like Hermit/Lemming/Cow/Sheep, etc. etc.

Well...what is fan, exactly? I mean, the actual definition. Not the one you guys made but the actual definition. What is the word that fan is used to shorten?
Fan comes from the term "fancy". A fan is someone who enthusiastically likes something, not someone who "pledge undying alliegence" to the think they like.Dictonary definition:
an ardent admirer or enthusiast

That also comes from fancy. Fan probably does come more directly from fanatic, but the connotation is significantly lessened than it is with fanatic.[QUOTE="Goyoshi12"][QUOTE="ferret-gamer"] Fan comes from the term "fancy". I want to have a good converse with someone who is not overly influenced by sheer fanism for a certain game.
My favorite series of all time, not favorite individual games, in order:
1. Xenosaga :) :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
2. Halo
3. Metroid Prime
4. Chrono series
5. Mass Effect
6. God of War
Plenty of other great games, including my favorite all time, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, but no other series are worth my list.

Wait...now I know who you are..you were the guy with Dracula as his avy and a Halo 4 sig.
Sorry, I barely recognized you in the other threads. I generally recognize people by sigs and avys alone. When I was Darknessified for a week I barely even saw myself, tbh. :P
Yeah I had Alucard as my avy for like 4-5 years, changing things up, gonna try to keep it this way for a few years lolWait...now I know who you are..you were the guy with Dracula as his avy and a Halo 4 sig.

I thought it was Alucard, actually, just looked so similar to Dracual really. Makes sense though...
Liking the new sig and avy, btw. Really, cool.
BOSS sig, Blade Runner > [insert literally any movie here save Dr. Stranglove]I don't like games.

That dude in your sig would freak out aliens if we were ever invaded lol, but I understand the message fully :lol:Anything made by Bungie and Rockstar instantly spikes my interest
as far as individual games
Halo
Grand Theft Auto
Mass Effect

Found him from another guy's post and thought, "How could I use this in my sig?" Then I looked at who created the thread I was in and...well...the rest is history. :P
I've been losing interest in Halo over the years, and that is coming from a big fan of the series. Bungie must have changed some writers somewhere along the lines because the games just don't have the same feeling anymore, or quality of storytelling. That first game is super stellar.
Super Mario (platformers)
Mass Effect
Diablo
There are many others that I really like, but these for me are MUSTS
I'm crazy about God of War and Final Fantasy (these last Final Fantasies not so much, let's hope they go back to what they did best).
