So i'm just wondering how many gamers out there are absolute perfectionist when it comes to certain games. By saying that, i mean achieving a 100% completion rate. For example, in GTA, collecting packages, pigeons, side missons and races.Castlevania , by exploring the whole map, collecting all of the souls , etc. Or even Pokemon , the trademark Gotta Catch Em' All.

I honestly gotta say that i'm not a perfectionist , i play mostly for the story , if there is one. Once i finished the game, be it 100% or not , i stopped at that point. Heck, i don't even give a damn about the recently popular NEW GAME+ . For me, once i beat a game, it's over , time for other games.

On the other hand, my cousin is a perfectionist, i still remember he somehwat completed 100% of all the GTA titles to date , except those on the PSP. And Castlevania too.

The point of creating this thread is becasue i wanted to know what kinda gamer are you. Advance thanks for the replies and votes.

*takenote that there're only 2 choices, i'm not including a 3rd choice like " depends on which game " . because i would like to see an definitive answer.*

no, if fact I was quite the opposite, i'd usually get about half way into one game, never finish it and then a new game would get released. Recently I have held back and started to go through my collection and play the old games that I never finished. The slightly annoying this is, alot of them were on my old gemertag, so I have to start fresh.

i used to be more of a completionist, but now there are so many games out that i just don't have the time

since i'm more of a singleplayer gamer rather than a multiplayer one, i just complete a campaign for the story generally, and then move on to new games

i do know a lot of perfectionists though .. it all stems from achievements .. a lot just keep going until they've got the full 1000 .. i've only got that a few times

Not even close. I usually beat a game once and a second time if it's worth it. In most games you can't achieve 100% with just two played throughs.

In games like GTA or Oblivion, i do my best to achieve the maximum percentage, but i end up getting bored of them before i get there.

The only game i have achieved 100% is Uncharted and it was mostly because of trophies.

Yep, even though it can sometimes be incredibly annoying. Still trying to get 1000 achievement points for Mass Effect. It's not that it's hard, it's just annoying to have to make so many playthroughs for the last couple of achievements.

No, I usually finish the story make another play through or 2 and if I get any more secret things I'm happy. The only game I've ever 100%'d was Pokemon Red I had all 151 (including Mew) and that took a joint effort from my brother and I and so much freaking time

Only if the game is fun enough. Right now, I'm in the way to get 100% at F-Zero GX ("just" have to beat story mode at very-hard  ).

I don't think i've ever gone 100% on any game. Just too much work. I'll beat the game once. Twice, maybe three times if i really like it (i think I got through GoW like 3 times, It was SO hard beating aries with that cow suit!), but generally i'll beat it once, and let it sit. Or, like I'm doing with MGS4, waiting for trophies, then I'll beat it again for those :D (I just wanna beat it again, but I might as well wait for trophies so i don't have to do it AGAIN lol)

depends if the game is worth getting 100%, Assassins creed flag finding was so boring i quit after 1playthrough, GTA4 i got 96% and quit 15% on second playthrough, MGS4 i got almost everything except the chicken emblem... really depends, i remember back in oldschool days getting 100% would reward you with cool weapons, unlockables, easter eggs, or an alt ending...not so much these days

Yep, I feel like I have to do EVERYTHING in a video game before I feel accomplished, some examples, in Banjo I needed every note, jiggy, jinjo, move, and secret, before I would let myself beat the game, in Final Fantasy games I need to have all my characters level 99, have every secret, summon, legendary items/weapons, before I beat the game, I like to call it video game OCD.

This actually gets worse with the Xbox 360 with achievements, I feel if I don't have every achievement, I haven't played my game to the fullest, and it always bothers me, its actually really annoying and makes it really hard for me to beat games in all honesty, if I miss 1 secret, or pass just 1 small thing, sometimes I'll turn off the game just to go back and get that thing I missed, but at least I get my moneys worth I guess...

Usually, I really have to force myself to move on to other games, I've been doing it a lot recently and its getting a bit easier, like recently once I realized I'm far from the skill level of getting the "survive 1 million" achievement in Geometry wars... I spent so much valuable time trying to get that I decided I really need to get over it. It still bugs me though.

CastleVania : SOTN has so much more than the 100% to the game. One thing I hate about games that track, is they don't track everything. So, one gamer feels hes done, whereas the game actually offers more.

Just something I've noticed in games, in general.

I wish I were a completionist, then I wouldn't have so many games left to beat.

But no, really though, I try to complete a lot of a game but very rarely do I go for that 100%. I may play a game over again if its fun or if I'm trying to understand the story (Metal Gear Solid series anyone?) but thats usually it.

I do try to do all sidequests or bonus objectives if the game is enjoyable enough, but try to avoid doing any collection/hidden objects or bloody achievements. I really hate achievements since they have become a crouch for developers to give their games longevity/re-playability. Instead of coming up with good ways to make a game re-playable (like Witcher), we get stupid achievements for playing through the game twice/three times (like Mass Effect). Is this the only way you can actually get people to re-play your games?

Isn't the map percentage like 100.6% or something? Its been a long time, but I know what you're talking about.

Same for Portrait of Ruin. I have an 816% map percentage in that game. I know how they did it, but its still confusing nonetheless :|

I am the type of person that likes to get 100% complete.... but I have a wife, son, school & job.... so I only have 1000/1000 in COD2 & COD4.... I have over 1000 in GeOW, and 995 in Halo3 and 980 in Lost Odyssey.... but the amount of time required to get the few extra points isn't really worth it for me.... I have better things to do, than to chase a few virtual points.

I'm not an Achievement hater btw.... I really like them.... and try to get many of them, I find them fun.... but there is a limit as to which I'm willing to go to get them.

I'm not gonna play Halo3 FFA Ranked Matches for hundreds of hours until I manage to find myself in the proper situation to allow me to get a Triple Kill with the Energy Sword, just to add +5 to my Gamerscore.

No, If I really like the game and want to keep replaying it maybe. That hasnt happened since gears, I dont have many of the online achievements but I dont have enough time to get them anyway. That would take some serious work.

I can honestly say that I have NEVER gotten 100% completion on any game...EVER. I have beaten a lot of games, but never found every single item, or got all the achievements/trophies, I dont have the kind of time to devote to such an undertaking

If there is a lot of gimmicky things in the game too do then no..

But in games such as SM64 where everything is great I would feel dumb if I didnt do 100%.

I am a completionist. So yes I do at least try to get 100%. Though I will admit getting 100% in morrowind is like losing several weeks of your life. The only acception to the 100% with me are the achievements.

It depends if the game has incentives for 100% completion. If I get someting out of it, I finish it completely; if not, I just play for the story.

You have no clue how much it irritates me to not have a 100% on the games in my trophy collection, and it really pisses me off to know I WONT be getting a 100% on some of these games due to the extreme challenges some require.

it depends if game is like like RE 4, advanced wars or metal gear solid. A game where it's a possibe challenge but if you do it you'll likely to be better in that certain genre. For others i would not really care. For some games like pokemon, i dont even try. Every generation they just spew another 140 + creatures with random names and if you are a serious perfectionist, buying every version will be expensive.

Depends entirely on the game, but more often than not, if I enjoyed the title. then I'll complete it to the best of my abilities, aiming generally for 100%

No, I guess not. But some games are worth completing 100%, such as most Zeldas and Metroid Prime. I tend to get bored of a lot of games I start, though, which is pretty annoying. Got about 4 Wii games, 3 PC games and 5 DS games to switch between right now.

Yes but I never have enough time anymore to actually finish any game 100% since I'm always playing new ones.
