Are you a Single Player gamer mainly? And do you buy MP focused games for SP?

As the thread states, because i want to know this since many have made fun of my gaming habits so my two questions are: Do you mainly focus on buying SP games? Do you buy games focused on MP for the SP as well? Like me for example, I buy mostly SP games. I am nt much of a fan of MP. I have brought games like BF bad company and Bad company 2 for strictly the SP campaign. Some games that focus or try to focus on MP I often fins their SPS to be better in some cases like: Singularity Crysis 2 Metro 2033 MindJack (entertaining (but also irritating) SP) So I mean, not sure if this is strange to you guys, but am I alone on this or are there other people that just buy SP and MP for SP only? It;s not that I can't play MP, but I find the MP in MOST GAMES to have little variation and t becoes repeptitive real quick while the SP has a changing game world and what not. So hopefully none think I am less of a gamer because of this.

i am a sp gamer. only online games i play are fifa regularly and call of duty every blue moon. I don't have the time to dedicate myself to getting good at online games. I'm also ultra competitive, so i get frustrated easily when i play online, and am losing. I play games to relax, not to raise my blood pressure.

I enjoy multiplayer-focused shooters (where they are designed from the ground up for multiplayer) such as Fortress Forever, NEOTOKYO, and Quake Live. For single player, nothing does it for me like a good, long, engaging RPG.

Both. I enjoy playing lengthy SP games (Fallout 3 + New Vegas/KH 1+2/GTA/RDR/ and so on) just as much as MP games ( Killzone 2, Uncharted 2+3[mostly 3 now], Fifa 12[this one is a mix between SP and MP], Resistance 3, and so on).

All that I care is that the game is good and fun, be it SP only or MP only game :)

EDIT: Oh level 1 user.. such a shame, this thread will likely be closed :S You need to a level 10 to post here buddy....

Maybe they will leave this open if I promise now to make another thread till level 10. I was getting some good opinions.

That's a good idea; the rule is mainly in place to prevent people from making spam accounts to troll in here. This doesn't sound like a troll thread, so I wouldn't worry too much about it being locked.

I have a couple of multiplayer games I play extensively - namely League of Legends (less recently) and Tribes: Ascend - and I tend to stick to them. Whenever I get a game with multiplayer, I play it a few times to see how it is, and then just focus on the SP portion.

I'm definitely a singleplayer guy first and foremost. I do enjoy the occasional multiplayer RTS, fighting or racing game, and to a lesser extent shooter, but without some kind of story to keep me going I lose interest pretty quickly.

Yes, I'm a single player focused gamer. I hate, haaaate the way MP gaming has taken over this gen. I do buy games like CoD MW3 and BF3 for it's campaign. I love single player games and wish we had more focused games for it.

Too many damn tacked on multiplayer, every game has to have it now *cough max payne cough*.

When I buy my games, I go straight to the single player no matter what but I'm not the kind of guy that whines about a game only being 8 hours long. I feel like most games should be around 8 hours long unless they are a role playing game or a open world game. I like playing short bursts over a couple of days and finishing the game. It gets to the point where I struggle to even finish long games like RDR, Assassins Creed etc. I very rarely finish long games. I never got to finish RDR because I was bored as **** and I was literally 3-4 missions from the end; I put it down one day and never picked it up again. I forgot the statistic but most people never finish a game because the people who power through a game and play like 6 hours a day are the minority.

I usually beat the SP first and then move on to the MP. I'd say it's about 50% in both catagories.

The rules are simple? Yeah, but MP gets very repetitive, and seems to be lacking much challenge now that as they say "Dumbing down" has become popular.

I hate it too. I dont play games to run around in circles competing for kills. Thats not what gaming is about. This generation seems to have this idea that gaming is all about.... shooting each other. What the hell happened to gaming & gamers?

Gaming is about the single player experience. A journey from start to finish. Not being planted on a small arena ( map ) & shooting other people until you get the magic number on the scoreboard.

I dont even considering MP apart of gaming. Its just a mindless bonus mode for the trigger happy kids.

Yes, I'm primarily a SP gamer, though I also play MMOs on occasion, so... And if I buy a MP focused game, it's generally to play some sort of MP, in addition to the SP. for example, I bought CoD:WaW, and never once played normal online, but I got it to primarily play Zombies locally or online with a few friends.

I buy games that interest me.. every game I buy has some sort of single player component. If a game has a multiplayer component I will usually try it at some point.. I will buy a great single player game any day of the week. Especially now with limited gaming time, a single player game can be paused at any time.. multiplayer not so much.

I'm a SP gamer all the way! I also enjoy local MP gaming a good bit.

Online mp just kind of came and went for me. It can be fun, but very rarely do you get a fresh experience. Plus I don't have the time to take online gaming seriously which is almost a requirement to enjoy a lot of competitive games.

I consider MP a bonus mode. Thats always what it was. A bonus mode to the actual game. Target practice, virtual paintball matches, nothing more.

Now for games that are purely focused on MP i consider those games glorified bonus modes. That's why you'll never see me purchase a game like BRINK. If its MP only then then it either should be "free to play" or shouldnt exist.

Keep in mind i dont hate multiplayer but gamers today want to glorify it, make it the main attraction, & make it seem like more than it really is. For me its not worth any money, at all.

You must have very little experience with multiplayer games then. Must be just CoD, and maybe one or two other games.

Even in my noobiest days of any online game I play I don't think I've ever experienced anything bad enough to actually care about.

Give me a good SP any day, see I know a lot of people who just play through their games once and never touch them again or just do MP after. I hate those people (well not really), I try to get the most out of my product so I'll replay a game more than once.

Hell I played through each Uncharted game like more than 7 times (which is easy to do because Uncharted is just so awesome). MP is ok with me, I like playing online with friends but I find most MP modes just seem tacked on and get boring after a short time.

Though online gaming is important to me, that's part of the reason why I went with PS3 over 360 because it offers more MP variety and it's FREE.

Main reason why I went with it was becuase of the excluisves, which it has plenty of awesome SP ones like God of War, Uncharted (great MP aswell), MGS4, Rachet and Clank ect...

Quake 3 came out around 2000 and was purely multiplayer, this isn't a new thing. Many games are amazing but focus pretty much entirely on multiplayer, just because you don't like it doesn't make it a bonus mode...
