Are you a single player or do you spend more hours on multiplayer modes?

Games have evolved in a lot ways from their begining days.the single player mode was all we could play in the begining and it was the main part of all games.in the years tha followed multiplayer was added too and the focus of the developers was in it too.online games made the developers focus even more on multiplayer and give it the same and some times even more work from the single player modes.i grew up with videogames and i feel that for me the single player mode of a game will always make me decide to get it or not and the multiplayer will just add to it and not take it's place as more important.i like multiplayer modes and online games but for me single player will always be the most important part of a videogame.what do you think about this?which is more important for you?are there any games for you that have found the right balance between single player and multiplayer modes?

Well it just depends more what type game it is, if it was Mass Effect or Gta 4 then SP, but MP for Halo 3 or CoD4.

I like a good SP, but have spent hours playing MP games. I wouldn't say that on a single game I would like the SP and MP content to be equal, CoD4's MP is way better than it's SP and to me the whole package is great.

I stopped playing games after the snes and genises days but then got back into games during the original xbox years. My cousin had xboxlive and i went to his house to try it out and i was hooked. The next day i went out and bought an xbox with a copy of nba 2k3 and ghost recon.xbox live really made me love games again.Dont get me wrong i like a good single player experience but its the multiplayer that sells me on games now.

Only a few multiplayer games have really pulled me in the past ....... but this year I should be putting a ton of hours into a lot of them oddly enough.

  • Warhawk
  • Metal Gear Online
  • Socom Confrontation
  • Resistance 2

I will probably be playing these multiplayer games for quite some time afterward as long as I can find games. I should be set for at least a few years , probably most of the generation just with these. (well , maybe not MGO if Konami pulls the plug)

I spend far more time with multiplayer.

I mostly play FPS games; when I play a FPS game, it's almost always for the multiplayer.

i believe that the main focus of the developers should be at single player modes because single player makes a game what it is in the eyes of a player.multiplayer is important too but should not replace single player but simply add other things to it.

Single player, its why i play games, i want that deep storyline and immersive singleplayer experience.

unfortunelty, due to the popularity of ONLINE, developers seem to spend less time on a good story...or care less for that matter.

single player, you don't get the same level of immersion from multiplayer.

Depends on the game. COD4's singleplayer campaign was very short, but it made up for it with fantastic multiplayer. But in GTA4 I'm playing for the campaign and not the multiplayer, I haven't tried the mp yet, but I won't be spending days on it like COD4 :D
