Lots of big name AAA titles have flopped, recently there was the whole Corruption thing. If it flops, if it doesn't.... it doesn't matter. This forum will be terrible either way.
Don't care, i have my copy on preorder so when i have it this place wont get a second thought till I'm done playing. If i didn't enjoy it i'll happly admit it sucks. No skin off my nose.

Personally, I hope that it scores well, not that it matters. If it scores well, fanboys will call GS "teh biased" and say that it was all hype. If it scores poorly, fans will say that it's great and that GS doesn't know what it's talking about. So in the end, IMO, the score doesn't really matter to me. Additionally, and what everyone seems to forget, is that reviews are simply one professional person's opinion about a game. What I personally think about the game is what is most important to me.
Well, if it doesn't get an AAA rating, the haters will have their fun for a loong time on this board...but the rest of us will be having fun with Halo 3 for a looong time, regardless of score. It's a guaranteed great game; unless Bungie somehow really, really, really, really, really messed up and gave us a broken game.......which I highly doubt, considering they finished the project on their own terms, and they called it their best game yet!!!!
I wouldnt mind halo 3 flopping to 8.5 just to watch lemmings in damage control because it's there bigges game probably of it's whole console life, But at the same time i played halo 1 and halo 2 and will play halo 3 at a friends house coop and would luv it to be a awesome game, more like halo 1 because halo 2 single player was very average
Halo 3 will not flop... it will probably exceed most peoples expectations.
One big thing it has going for it is it was a vast amount of actual gameplay content compared to the most recent games that failed to live up to te hype. (MP3, Bioshock)
oh and cmon as if halo will get anything less than a 9, and im a sony fan big time!! halo is just a AAA franchise somehow it's managed to get casuals and hardcore gamers to love it!! although I cant stress enough how average halo 2s single player was after they left the earth, but the multiplyer took it to AAA
I think it's lowest score will be an 8.5, I bet it will be bashed in the review for being too similar to previous games, that is what gamespot always says about sequels to big name games.
Scores SHOULDN'T mean anything - but of course people care oh so much about them

I'm not going to buy it. I have 5 or 6 friends that are obsessing over it and I'm sure I'll get my firsthand experience to see if its the real deal or just hype.

Not really. And if it does happen, you think it will give the PS3 fans much to go on? They still won't have crap on their own console, while the Lemmings have Mass Effect to look forward to this year.
My only concern is that the game be good. Ratings are inconsequential, considering many of my favorite games ever didn't score that high.
I could care less what GS scores Halo 3. When looking at a games score I only look at the average and (as will be the case here) if I buy it, regardless ,all that will matter to me is whether or not it lives up to my expectations. If Halo 3 scores 9-10 the cows will claim it's overrated if it doesn't lems will claim it's underrated, meh, it doesn't take much to start a flame war around here anyway.
I remember all of these thread showed up before halo 2 came out, and guess what 9.4, I mean it could easily flop but I'm going to lean towards it not flopping since I played the beta and the multiplayer is definatly better than ever and bungie admitting halo 2's single player faults and even they said halo 3 is the best one, I'm going to have to trust them. sorry

well considering now days when a games flops it is with an 8 or 8.5... which is just confusing to me how that is a flop since it is still a great game i guess i would be worried.
personally i hate halo. i thought the first one was ok when playing co-opand the second one was just rubbish. i do plan to buy the new one just because i think 4 player co-op could be fun. either way i think it will be over scored because i think it is mediocre when it comes to fps. people say it is the best one onconsoles. but even there i dont agree. i think games like the timesplitter series and perfect dark zero are better than it (they have great controls for a console FPS.) people say well the story... yea... ever seen an arnold movie in the 80's... one man vs the bad guys saves the world... story does not interest me in the least. and a good story does not make a good fps for crying out loud! the shooting mechanics do! and that is where i think halo fails! i think the contorls are slow and crappy!
so if it flops hereyou will be seeingthe same thing you see when it comes to zelda TP, resistance or mp3 (oh it sucks they are flops) eventhough they are all great and fun games to play. i mean this is system wars... which means it is a preschool playground where we all cry about how great such and such console is. and how every great game sucks because it got an 8.5... but why get anxious about it. just close your browser window and you will never have to see a thing about it.
All I know, is that if it DOES FLOP, that these boards will be HILAROUS for a while, just like after the LoZ:TP "incident".
But, it also worries me because of one thing: If it does flop, will people start becoming to scared to hype anymore games? Will people start hyping Smash Bros: Brawl, Spore, Crysis, MGS4 and the like as A or AA simply because then it won't be a "flop"? It could potentiall take alot of the fire, brimstone, and fun out of these boards. I got my fingers crossed the boards don't change, no matter what happens.

who cares? Halo 3 will still sell like crazy and most of us will be too busy playing it to be on these forums. It will just be a bunch of ps3 fanboys chatting amongst themselves. :)

you can have fun without attaching a number to your excitement and telling people that "this is what it will score". hyping a game the way it's done here has no positive benefit at all. if a game scores AAA, you get bragging rights no matter what. if it flops, well, you know.
The thing about Halo is, everyone is going to be playing it. Meaning everyone at GS is going to be playing it. The excitement factor created by that will automatically bump the game up a couple of point. I can't see it getting less than 9. No way would they rate it 8.5 unless there is a glaringly god-awful problem.

I think Bungie have done quite well, its the last in the trilogy so they've put as many new items and features into their game unlike Metroid 3 for example. and Metroid scored 8.5 so I can see Halo getting 9.0.

I love the HALO games and will buy HALO 3 regardless of any rating.Theyarejust soamazingly fun that I could care less what anyone thinks. But unless Halo 3 does something new, different, and well done in its game play, it could easily get an 8.5. Gamespot is looking for big, novel gameplay introductions for the big ratings. Look at Metroid and Zelda. Even if Halo is the most fun game ever, if it is more of the same, it may not get AAA.
