I may get it. Going to check out the reviews first. If you buy the game between launch day (25th) and the 30th, you get the 1st season pass free. You thinking about it, SW? Let me know your thoughts!

A fighting game with a season pass, so you get a bare bones version like SF5 where they sell you extra characters at a later date lol.
Yeah gaming is going down the shitter :(
Season pass? Nahhh. I learned from SF5 to wait it out with fighting games for a price cut that includes the whole game.

The season pass is completly free until the 30th. Which is 4-5 characters.

I have 0 problem with a season a pass if it's stuff still in development, essentially a expansion and they actually tell you what your buying and not treat it like a loot-box.
In the old days of fighting games pre-internet you basically had to buy an entirely new version of the game for any content
Besides that SNK is nowhere near as egregious as it's competitors.
And to the guy complaining about bare bones, this was KOF14's base roster.
Samurai Shodown launched with 16.
Looks like a game from 2008.
But does it play like a game from 2019?
From what I read it plays very much like a traditional Samurai Shodown game with some added stuff like a universal over-head. It's taken heavy inspiration from Samurai Shodown II.
It will be better than MK11, that much is a given.
I mean sure, it doesn't have a fancy woke story mode where you end slavery, but it does have an under-boob black pirate lady.
@uninspiredcup: Don't be a bitch, if you have something to say to me then quote me.
So you try and make a point with KOF14's roster of 48 by stating that this game has far less in 16 (one third) and that somehow negates what I said.
Since you're the fighting game "expert" here did KOF14 have a season pass???
To the guy above.
No.
Also not a fighting game expert, it's just so few people on the forum play fighting games, average at best, said that many times now.

So what you're saying is that my bare bones comment is spot on.
Lets compare, KOF14 came out with no season pass and 48 fighters
vs
Samurai Showdown that indeed has a season pass and only has a third of the fighters of the game YOU brought into this conversation.
Did I leave anything out?
EDIT: when I said expert I wasn't referring to skill, rather knowledge, but I think you have just proven to not be that either :(
Racing games suck.
That moment when you realised that you have no retort, makes me smile :)
A fighting game should not be reviewed within days imo.
Basically going to be complaints for not having a MK11 story-mode, which most people buying it won't give a shit about.
@boxrekt: Wish played more of it. Only got a couple of hours with ConanTheStoner and that was pretty much it.
Unfortunately the community was dead on PC without crossplay.

Yea, one benefit of console I guess. Playing local is also a thing. I like beating up on my female gamer friends :P
I can't wait for KOFVX. I still love XIV and you can't really perfect your skill enough.
The skill cap one of the highest.
ET completely destroyed that girl who ran thru every other player
@boxrekt: Yea I'm sure that game has monsters with an insane learning curve. We basically just played it like Street Fighter, pretty much.
Not really looking for that here. Slower paced with emphasis on spacing and poking. Little to no combos, normals doing 30% damage. Gets down the bare essentials.
Old man game.
It's official, I_P_Daily sucks at fighting games.
Well I fought with cup and defeated him with his own argument, and you're heading into a gun fight with a butter knife lol.
Can you negate what I said or are you not grown up enough yet?
Cashangry loves this game and also thinks its the best fighting game this gen. You should befriend him and play together.....oh wait you are cashangry my bad lol.

lol geez did this Cashangy mentally scar you or something?
Get a grip, what ret@r#ed fanboy you are. Stop coming into threads acting like a total idiot who never posts on the actual topic.
I have it preloaded right now.
I'm a big fighting game player and I've been watching this game closely.
It focuses on the stuff I love the most (methodical neutral and footsies)
And keeps the stuff I dislike the most to an all time low (mix ups and long combos)

That's between you and Cup over this argument, don't even try to drag me into this.
I dunno about Cup but I play fighting games for a living and the fact you don't like fighting games is disturbing?
Also, Mortal Kombat 11 shits all over Street Fighter V!
Looks like a really enjoyable game, but I'm bad at fighters and don't really have the patience/will to get better, so I'd abandon it pretty quickly. I'll pass and probably won't consider picking it up until it's a price that's commensurate to the little time I'll spend playing it (approx. $25).

I tried out KOF 14 during a free weekend, I liked it but wasn't sure to but it since I couldn't tell if most of the other people playing were just free weekenders like me. Looking at its SteamDB it currently has 57 players online. Seems like you'd have to join a Discord or Steam group to arrange matches.

Oh no cashangry is getting well angry lol.
And no we mentally scarred you cash :)
I did post on topic, you just don't like being outed alt boy.

You must be a poor man then, and i'd give you a dollar but I don't care lol.
I didn't say I don't like them, I just out grew them as the last few fighting games I play were VF5/SF4/DOA4 on the 360.
On topic: I'd rather wait for the PC version and the deal for preordering the game and getting the season pass free for going with it should be gucci. Having played some of it I already know the game is rock fucking solid, glory be thy name that is SNFuckingK! But I have zero desire to pay for the scams that are PSN or Xbox Live, so a fighting game that isn't exactly combo, isn't going to get much lab hours from me anyway. So I'll just wait to get the game on PC with a group of friends, and maybe play the game for now at a buddies or if I ever go to a local.

Quantity of fighters isn't nearly as important aspect of learning fighting games and is misunderstanding the genre n type of game Sam Sho is. Anyone worth their salt in fighting games will learn likely learn 2-3 characters max. Far more important is if those 16 characters have a reasonable amount of tools, depth for player expression, and if the characters aren't symmetrical as **** (Dragonball for instance, has a bad habit of everyone's win condition being far too similar).
KoF also runs a tag structure, you don't play that game 1v1. Sam Sho you do, Street Fighter you do.
Argument can certainly be laid against the single player being simple and Japanese fighting game devs insistence on not using rollback, but 16 characters being a knock against the games content is wildly uninformed at best.
Also Mortal Kombat 11 continues the NRS trend of being the worst main stream fighting game on the market. It is the epitome of feature sets n graphics, do not make a game.
