Poll Are you getting System Shock remastered? (pre-alpha gameplay) (48 votes)
Never played the original and this looked damn impressive, especially for a pre-alpha build. Day one.

I'd love to play it, if it comes to consoles that is...
Edit: Sounds like it is coming to Xbox One. Awesome!
Didn't even know this was a thing. I own the original (ss1 and ss2), played them when they came out. Will be on this so fast. Who is making it since looking glass games / irrational is dead? And release date?
Yes, Ooooh Yes! I never could get used to the UI for the first SS game, SS2 is one of my favorite games of all time, so I will pick this up as soon as I can, heck this one I will preorder, make games I like and I will preorder, no question :o
Ill be trying it out, ive heard so many talking about it for so long that i might as well get down on it some.
I will because I find the old games to clunky to properly enjoy. I imagine this will remedy the issues
Of course. I have SS2 which runs okay on my netbook. I'll leave that one there and buy this new, beefier SS for my laptop and PC.
Yeah. I'd say the graphics of the original SS2 could use a facelift. I know there are mods to do just that. But, I like to see developer-sanctioned ones.
Since it's a remaster of SS1, that would help flesh out the story.
I was watching a review for Half Life 2 the other day, and I was wondering: where the hell are all the FPS this gen that focus on a lenghty, engaging and worthwhile singleplayer ? Games like Bioshock or Half Life.
I'm dying to play this or System Shock 3. Just because the AAA industry doesn't seem to care about games like these anymore.

What kind of high end PC gets 43fps in SS2?

Huh? That's from my netbook. Uh, sorry about the original image. I was cleaning up and accidentally deleted it.
Yes indeed.
I played the original and then played through a second time with some fan-made texture/model facelifts. Looking forward to crawling my way through this version as well.

What about New Doom and Shadow warrior 2? they are what FPS genre need. fast paced twitch gameplay.
System shock 3 will not release before 2018 so i guess its good that they are releasing this remake.

Yeah, plus I've never played SS1&2 so this is a good thing for me :)
Perhaps if this becomes a success, they might even remake SS2.
New DOOM and Shadow Warrior 2 are on my radar. But I mean games that are built from the ground up to be a singleplayer adventure.
Half Life had such excellent pacing. First you are shooting combine in City 17. Then you get the gravity gun, play around for a bit. Before you are dropped in Ravenholm with all these cool traps. Then you got the dune buggy. I mean its pacing is absolutely incredible.
A lot of FPS these days have a throwaway campaign whose sole purpose is to get you ready to play the MP. Or how about Titanfall and Battlefront, two big IP this gen that didn't even have a singelplayer...
I hope DOOM sets the standard again. And I know Shadow Warrior 2 will be a good sequel to the first game, which I loved.

I was just joking, I thought that pic was already a decade or so old and that's why the framerate was so low (for such an old game).

He He. I thought SS2 getting 43fps on my netbook was pretty good. The 1.5 ghz Intel Atom N550 is probably equivalent to a late-model Intel P3 or early-model P4 CPU. Couple that with GMA 3150 graphics. So, yeah. My netbook would give equivalent performance to a PC from 15 years ago.

Haha sounds like a nice machine to do some retro gaming on.
I might... I tried to play the Enhanced Edition that came out recently and the controls hurt my brain something fierce... So hopefully this keeps it playing like System Shock... But make the controls something usable
