Are you interested in a new God of War game?

Or do you think the series should be laid to rest? With God of War 3 remaster coming, it seems like 4th is inevitable. I think I'm down for one last one before I experience series fatigue. It's been long enough since I've played the last reiteration. What do you think, SW? Are you excited for another God of War?

God Of War Ascension is pretty much GOW4 to me and it was too much GOW.

Really enjoyed GoW3, much more than any of the predecessors. I don't really have much investment in the characters though, so I wouldn't mind if they just created an entirely different universe, while keeping the same core gameplay and mechanics.

Kratos' story has been told. I would only be interested in another GoW if there is a different protagonist. Would also prefer it was set in a different mythology...Norse maybe.

Yep, one of my favorite franchises of all time with some of the best boss battles ever. Wouldn't mind if they used a new Hero at a different time period but if they bring back Kratos thats fine to.

Can't wait to see what they can do on the PS4.

Yes I recently replayed GOW3 and I think overall it's an awesome experience. People always bitch about the combat in God of war 3, but I don't see anything wrong with it. If people can put up with shit like dynasty warriors, GOW shouldn't be a problem. When it comes to pure action, after the likes of DMC, Ninja Gainden, boyenetta, and the like, GOW is still great and fun to play around with. The actual pacing of game events, level design, and art-style/presentation are not bad at all. The story is bullshit and stupid and chessy but fun to play. And the over the top presentation will keep you entertained if everything else fails you. So yeah why not.

No, it's a tired series that doesn't actually play all that well. God of War 2 was good, but beyond that I don't need more of this series. I want new things.

If they could hire Platinum games to make a GOW with Sony Santa Montica tech behind it, would be glorious.

@jg4xchamp: I agree with this. I want Santa Monica to try new things to see what they can do. It seems to be working well for GG. However, I think Santa Monica studios are always helping other Playstation devs with programming tech, that could be a reason why they haven't tried to branch out and do other things.

If they play very well, they can entertain you for years.

I consider Ninja Gaiden Black to be the holy grail of the genre.... **** why am I saying consider, it is the holy grail of the genre. I've gotten hundreds of hours out of it over the years and just talking about it makes me want to play it again right now.

When this genre is at its best, it's extremely satisfying and addictive and I'm always down for more of that.

Thing is, GoW just doesn't deliver on that level. It's more of a one off game. You take in the spectacle, enjoy it for what it is, but it's not something you replay over and over again for years to come. The gameplay just isn't there.

So yeah, as for the topic, nah not really. GoW is a good excuse for Sony to show off their top of the line production values and that's about it.

Yes, continue what Ascension did and build on that. Better combat than in GoW3.

A true next gen GoW (build a next gen engine, not some UE3 bullshit etc) would be great. GoW3 was the first of the series that i've played and i loved that game. That was long ago so a new GoW is a welcome

Really? you guys are claiming this series is over played, kratos has told his story, ect yet you guys are fine with Uncharted and Nathan Drake.. already on the 4th game... as a rail shooter.. it's already more repetitive than GoW.

I think they at least need to reboot it with a new protagonist/Universe. Regardless I would wanna play it though. Really like the first three.

Sure, aslong has:

- No Kratos

- No Greeke Mythology

- No more blades of chaos (or atleast expand ALOT on them)

- No more fixed camera angles

Fantastic lore , great productions values overall etc ... Well story wise , there will be a gap there maybe a reason to drop the series , all gods are dead !! , but you get what i mean. GoW is one of the best , to me is the best , on its genre.

Nailed it. I agree on Ninja Gaiden Black. That game is like Raiders of the Lost ark to me. It is the game to which others in its genre are measured by. Gameplay GoW was never in it's league. Square, square, triangle can get you through 95% of the game. Its not even on NG2 gameplay wise. But spectacle, lore, and enjoyment are there in GoW. It was a really fun series. But how much further can it go? Let it die now.

I would like to see it. right now it's the only good sony series IMO. GoW 4 would be a day 1 buy for me.

No, it has some of the most unsatisfying and repetitive combat in games. Combat in God of War is about as deep as Kratos' personality. It's like a punching a meatsack for days on end. Horrible.

I'm always up for more games that use mythology, this was the only reason i tried ryse...but....well you know what a pile of poo poo that was.

I would love a fourth installment. But while I don't want it to lose its identity, I do feel that the series needs to evolve dramatically for it to feel fresh again.

Honestly, no I would rather have something new. God of War was never a favorite series of mine and I've only been able to tolerate finishing the 1st game even though I own them all through the HD Collection which included all the games including Ascension. I started the second game, saw what it was about, played the 1st few missions and never went back. I just feel like there are hack n slash games out there these days that do what God of War does, but does it better.

The series would need an overhaul to make it relevant to me but then it may as well be a new franchise at that point. Stop living off the same games and game names and give me something new.

Of all the 1st party titles, GoW is the one I've played the least and have enjoyed the least. A new game doesn't make the needle move very much.

I've always felt that the characters of Greek Mythology were really arrogant, and needed to be ripped apart.

I still feel that way.
