Since when can you send 'physical' packages over the internet, that still requires the physical mail system. (makerbot doesn't count, it can't make everything)
And no it's not a very physical activity, but nor is e-mail, though mail is very physical, and that's the point though. "e" in this context is the ~omission of physical.
(pressing keys, pushing buttons, moving mouses and joysticks does burn calories, though it is ~nominal)
a sport requires physical activity. sending a message to someone does not require a physical letter. there is a big difference between email and "esports"
