Wii U started next gen kid. With that said, one console is trying to pass multiplats and indie trash off as a strong line up. The other has a crazy rumor about it every other day. The real start to next gen is fall of 2014 in my eyes.
Started last year
Do you mean the WiiU....??lolol
3DS.
2 years ago. LOL
Easily waiting. My ps3 has quite the backlog of games and even more being released this holiday.
Late 2014/Early 2015 is when i will pick my ps4 up
I started my next gen with the Wii U last year and plan to get a PS4 when it gets a more promising library down the line.
You need to cure off your stroke, TC.
And generation is time based not power.
Depends who you ask. Some like me go by both time and power. It is pretty ignorant to just go by time. With that old definition, I could release a console tomorrow and slap Atari 5200 level parts in it and call it next gen just because of when I released it. You can thank The Wii for putting a end to that old outdated definition. Sure there are those who will say I am wrong because they can't let go of the past and keep up with the rest of us. Let those old dinosaurs think what they wish.
Is it a successor to the 5200, or just some random console? It's only "next generation" when it succeeds something.

Do you apply that to everything else?
It already has.
No....it is not.
*has not
And yes, it has started.
The 6th gen started when the Dreamcast came out. Not when the PS2 came out.

This isn't remotely comparable to the dreamcast. For one you still haven't had WiiU games becoming the clear winners when it comes to Visuals. DC was a clear step above the n64 and ps1.
I don't think a gimmicky motion controller that's half the size of an iPad changes any of that.

WiiU is just a weaker PS3/XBOX360 after 7 years......deal with that.It is not a true next gen console.

Visuals never defined a generational gap. And innovation isn't a requirement either.
All that it needs to be is the next home console iteration. That's what the Wii U is. It started the 8th gen in November last year.

Nah.
from the nes to the genesis and snes, to the ps1 and n64, DC and ps2 and GC, there has always been significant visual differences that harbor in a new generation.
The Wiiu is still very much a 7th generation console in it's design.

The Wii was not a significant upgrade from the GC (it was pretty much an overclocked GC hardware-wise) and it was considered by most logical, reasonable people to be a 7th gen console.
