Hit Steam Early Access game Ark: Survival Evolved has sold more than 400,000 copies in just its first week on sale.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Studio Wildcard co-founder Jesse Rapczak said the game had already made more than $10m in revenue. The title is currently one of the most played on Steam, hitting a peak of 63,061 concurrent players in the last 24 hours.

The studio spent around $1.5m on developing Ark: Survival Evolved during the past seven months. Rapczak said that despite its quick success, it was too early to discuss profits since the game still has a long way to go to completion.

“80 per cent of the main game is done, with hundreds of hours of gameplay there already,” he said.

“It's just down to balancing and feedback from the players. If all goes well we may even add more content once the community gets their hands on the mod tools. More on that later.”

I guess the game will turn out good, the trailer looked amazing but soon as you saw early access footage it looked like a completely different and more shitty game, didn't know they spent $1.5 million on it.

The optimization is what is preventing me from getting the game. But from watching streams, the gameplay in itself is pretty solid and the price of it isn't as steep for the amount of available content for its early stages.

Best time to release a game is when people are ready to spend lots of money.
