Awesome! Time to preorder 😎 what about you, SW? Will you be getting Armored Core 6?
The score is exactly what i expected, but i didn't expect the level being easy. Not to happy hearing the fact that only bosses are difficult.
Bosses are a lot harder than regular enemies??? Duh, its Fromsoft. Masaru Yamamura has never failed us yet. The Legend cant be stopped.
This is what I thought. What a weird complaint.
That is not exactly true. Early game, standard enemies are always hard hitting in the souls titles. Mid game they're usually easy, and by late game they're difficult yet again, unless you're overleveling everything.
Will definitely buy this when it gets a discount. Looks pretty good, just not something I'm particularly interested in.
If I play it, it'll be more driven by my growing appreciation for FromSoftware than my familiarity with the Armored Core games (which is non-existent), or any appreciation for the mech games genre in general for that matter.
Hats off to FromSoft. It is truly remarkable that they have successfully revived this niche franchise, with the success of Elden Ring raising expectations.
From the reviews I've seen, they seem to have achieved the feat of making the distinctive combat and complex customization accessible to new players, while at the same time deepening those core aspects for veteran players.
It is also good to see that many reviewers point out the variety of missions as well as the fierce, engaging boss battles that are a hallmark of their games. The story may be a bit lacking, but the huge positives seem to make up for it well enough. I can't wait to dive in myself.
@Chutebox: It isn't actually that silly. Very many games, including From Software's own, have enemies that are just as tough if not tougher than the bosses.
*obviously* not talking 1v1 but ONE single boss can be a lot easier than killing 10, 20 or 30+ mobs with limited healing.
In fact look no further than From Software's very own Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1. The bosses are extremely easy but the environment / mobs are an absolute nightmare.
@Mozelleple112: Demons' Souls bosses were easy. BUT I would argue the rest of the game was just as easy if you were just paying attention to your environments. Things could get the jump on you if you arent careful, but dodge roll I-frames are absurdly OP. And stamina management has always been easy.
FromSoft's forte these days are in the bosses. Which is usually solid enough.
@Maroxad:
Demon's Souls was my first ever FromSoft game and even so the bosses never gave me any problems. I played *extremely* carefully and didn't second chance anything (I was so worried about the game being too hard, it never was) and then after platinuming Elden Ring, Sekiro, beating DS3 3-4 times, DS1 twice etc I went back to Demon's Souls to get the platinum (requires 4+ full runs)
Playing NG+2 and NG+3 environments were a literal fucking nightmare lol. I beat the entire game of Sekiro without a single death on my 5th run, but on my 4th run of Demon's Souls (NG+3) there was a few moments that made me want to break my coffee table.
The Mind flayers in World 3-1 for instance. Those knights in World 1-4. the entire swamp areas of world 4-1, 4-2 etc.
environments/mobs so much harder than the bosses.
10 hours in and this doesn't look or play like a game from a top tier studio with an unlimited budget. Gameplay mechanics from 2010, graphics from 2004. It gets repetitive and stale quickly.

You're such a troll. Should be ashamed of yourself.

One reviewer summed it up nicely:
"The post-Elden Ring era was going to be difficult, that much was certain. FromSoftware's work on Armored Core 6 is bound to be compared to that of GOTY 2021, and unfortunately it pales into insignificance. At no point do you get a sense of the studio's maturity or expertise. Armored Core 6 could have been anyone's game. A messy title, not very pretty and very repetitive. A game with an archaic, old-fashioned structure that leaves no room for immersion and doesn't even seem to want to draw the player into its world. Fortunately, the gameplay is fun, the sensations are pretty good and some sequences stand out from the crowd. Not to mention the incredible customisation of our mechas, which is sure to delight fans and the big kids in all of us. But does that really justify throwing yourself into the game? I'm not sure."

Wouldn't surprise me if you were the one writing the review tbh.
Played the first 3 missions, so far its alright. Feels like its gonna be a slow burn but you can tell FS didn't spend the amount of quality they do in their souls games (specially Elden Ring) in this game.
My only grip so far is the boss arenas can go F themselves specially the first boss I can see a trend of bosses going out of the arena and still firing on you while you are just fubard trying to do range (melee feels a little op so far). Lastly the targeting is dog shit, sorry but coming from Mechwarrior 5, this games targeting is just so bad.
Oh and whoever thought it was cool to restart a mission when you die can piss off.
edit/update
On the last major boss fight for chapter 1. Honestly this game is way over praised and doesn't feel like a triple A game nor a souls game, not even a decent mech game ether. I honestly hope the story picks up cause for a game in 2023 and the only way characters talk is voice recordings or radio...its like was there no budget to make characters in this game?.
I don't know if I'm spoiled with the Mechwarrior games but damn there is like no life in this game, I have no connection to this Raven pilot nor all of these characters which are just voices. Like even the Front Mission games had characters with personalities and identities.
I'm still hoping this game picks up after this boss fight but damn this is one shallow game that so far isn't even better than Daemon X Machina on the switch.
Man this sucks. I love everything mechs. I'm constantly spending money on new Gundam to build but Armored Core or really any mech game just hasn't been interesting to me. I'll buy it eventually just to have it in the collection but not until a deep deep discount.
@hardwenzen: Not sure how impressive this is. Need to play it 10 hours then get back to this vid. If its anything like Ongbal playing FromSoft games then oof.
Loving this game so far! Finally a AAA game that isn't generic or cookie cutter lol.
Uhhh so far this game on chapter 1 is the definition of generic. This game feels like a k-mart version of a mech game that doesn't hold a candle to series like Mechwarrior, Battle Tech or Front Mission.
Mechwarrior 5 does a better job at what Armored Core 6 is trying to do with its story. I'm hoping the game picks up after this chapter but damn there's nothing spectacular about this game.
Got it on PC, another shit Fromsoft PC launch lol. They insist that the minimum CPU requirement is a 4790 but reports are coming in left and right of massive unplayable stuttering on CPUs below a 12th gen intel because they fucked up the core registrations and forced EAC again. Even the menus can't avoid it, the opening screen is in the low teens lol.
There's workarounds in place that turns it from a painful 15-30fps with major framedrops to a crisp 60-120fps depending on your GPU and resolution, thanks to a task manager core bypass, but it's laughable that this is their 6th major game release on PC and they can't figure out hardware scaling yet.
That aside I cleared a few missions yesterday and I enjoy it mostly. I think the movement is a bit clunky for a fast paced action game (having to turn on boost to go from a horrendous walk cycle to actual decent movement is silly) but I assume I'll get used to it if I keep playing. Biggest issue for me is the boss AI is the only challenging AI, everything else is basically just a braindead hurdle to trample on your way to the actual challenges.
Pass for now. It's a big sale pickup for sure though. Way too many games I want more that are releasing soon.
So how are the textures? Has Fromsoft finally discovered texture resolution past 7th gen?
Why i am even asking a question to which i know the answer to...
But i won't bitch too much since this game has been in development for as long, or even longer than ER. Its their next title that i am watching closely. If its the same shitty engine AND no crossplay support, i will be mad, real mad, i will not be gentle with my fromsoft.
Played it last night and am really enjoying it so far.
As someone who played the last ACV, which was a bit janky on PS3, I was very impressed with how AC6 has evolved in visuals and performance on PS5.
The first helicopter boss is pretty tough, but a great opponent to get used to AC's speed after 10 years (I beat it in 5 attempts...).
I also enjoy spending time in the garage trying out different weapons, parts and designs.
Oh, and they should definitely add a co-op mode in the future for those who have trouble beating bosses or want to enjoy the game with friends.
In any case, I can't wait to keep playing it.

I was talking about the state of AAA gamin in general.
Oh, and Mechwarrior 5 has a 73 metacritic ðŸ¤

Local co-op would be awesome.
