Armored Souls VI previews are out. GOTY contender?

Armored Core VI previews are out, everyone seems very positive about it. I'm 100% sold.

Very nice. Definitely looking forward to this game myself. Never played any of the other Armored Core games though.

30fps Starfield and this in the same month is painful.

Hadn't realised it was so on top of Starfield. I'll play Starfield once I beat this game. I hope AC isn't a huge game otherwise I might save it for a later date.

@hardwenzen: You of all people shouldn't be calling others a hater.

Its true though, there are certain darlings of the industry like R*, Nintendo, ND, Kojima, Fromsoft etc who's games get given higher scores because of who makes them.

Perfect example how ER was so broken on PC to the point Bandai (not From) had to put out a public apology for all the bugs and crashes the game had, and yet people like your buddy shill up who plays on PC ignored all that and rated the game as highly as he could. There are many other examples out there. Moral of the story, don't trust any reviews.

never played an ac game so did a bit of reading up on the series after the announcement and what the guy in that vid says rings true. theyre not souls game but sounds like they follow the same kind of design philosophy. the first ac game for e.g. starts with no help and an ass whooping. basically a fromsoft staple.

look forward to playing a modern incarnation. visually looks better than expected too

Still, glad to see FromSoft returning to their Armored Core roots. It's a good way to break out of their "Soulsborne" type casting.

But, none have ever been GOTY contenders.

Will be from softwares best game, better than all the souls game. Because it's not a souls game.

I'm not sure if this looks good or boring yet. Flying around in samey looking environments with your samey looking robots, fighting samey looking enemies can probably get lame quickly.

@last_lap: You just listed literally the Mt. Rushmore of videogame developers. Like without fault, you listed the five greatest devs in video game history. And you're surprised they score well.

They are not scored highly because they are made by them, they are scored highly because they are the five S-tier devs that produce GOTY and even GOTG contenders with every single game they make.

The worst Fromsoft, ND, R*, Koji Pro, Ninty game is still better than the best games from other teams.

@dabear: Old Armoured Core games were trash, sure. But this is From Software 2.0 since 2009 they are 7 out of 7 masterpieces, 7 GOTY contenders of which multiple are GOTG contenders.

Armoured Core VI will and least be a GOTY contender, just not a GOTG (future) winner like Elden Ring.

Maybe re-read what I wrote and try again.

Possibly a good game. I enjoy some Mech games, they can be really fun.

Your comment holds the same value as saying Albert Einstein wasn't that smart. Isaac Newton is only famous because he's English. Leonardo Da Vinci or Pablo Picasso weren't good painters. Bugatti cars are only known for being expensive.

I really enjoyed stuff like Mech Warrior and Chromehounds. But this is very different. Never played an Armored Core game.

The game looks good. I haven't played the Armored Core series before.

Never played one. But because it's being developed by FromSoftware then I might consider it. Maybe. I'll wanna see more gameplay first.

Looks like an awesome game, but the fact that’s it’s made by From Software makes me want to stay away.

I love building mechs/Gundam. This does nothing for me. Easy pass.

AC games have always gotten 7's to 8's. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's going to be a decent action shoot-em-up. Nothing more, nothing less.

Post-2009 From Software has released 7 out of 7 GOTY contending masterpieces since then.

Their track record is ridiculous.

Of course their record is ludicrous. But this is still just a mech game where you dodge and shoot. Unless they change up the formula and make it similar to Elden Ring but as a mech, where you travel around an open world killing difficult bosses, this will be a very niche and average title. They've already said they won't soulify it. It's still a linear shoot em up. Linear shoot em ups don't win GOTY. Looks to be similar to Vanquish in terms of gameplay loop.

The question is, is it From Software's B-team on this project? Obviously their main team is most likely busy working on a follow up to Elden Ring. I'm only spit balling though

@hardwenzen: I dislike From Software due to their “let’s make this game as painfully hard as possible” idea. I enjoyed Bloodborne but gave up when I reached Nightmare of Mensis area where enemies use Frenzy on you to damage 80% of your health. Lost a lot of respect for them after that. Frenzy in Bloodborne was absolutely ridiculous, no reason for Frenzy to exist, game was already hard without it.

Love to hear this. I hope that after the casualized Elden Ring, they go back to actually challenging games.
