Article comparing the Xbox One, PS4 and the R9-290X

I know the R9-290X will cost more by itself than the entire console so not really a fair fight but the number comparisons are interesting.

And for those who say "well the consoles are optimized better" that may be true however the difference between a console and a PC has never been less than this generation so we aren't sure how much of a gap there will actually be.

That's not surprising. PC's are always 1-2 generations back from what's about to be released or what's in development. ;)

No platform ever has the most powerful because there's always something better out there.

This isn't that shocking but still interesting.

I can go buy a 7950 boost for $199 and overclock it to 1050-1075mhz (without changing the volts) and have 2x the GPU power as the ps4.

The midrange 20nm cards that are due next year (nvidia GTX 860 ti/AMD pirate island equavalent) should give you R9-290X performance for half the cost

This make me wonder if I should even invest in "next gen" but I hate PC gaming always having to updating.

If I'm satisfied with price and performance, good chance I'll be picking one up for me as well, and sell my 670. Else, waiting till next year, see what Nvidia has in mind.

Yeah, they're awesome, just playing Bioshock Infinite, card heats up to 81 C, yet the game completely drowns out any fan noise.

Will be again looking for Asus models, as well as MSI. Their new TwinFrozr coolers are great and very silent as well.

Audio processor on xbo is saucy too.   Cows wanna think there ps4 is going to give them 50 percent fidelity difference.   They think the gap is going to be huge.   Logical people know better.  The 50 percent thing cant be quantified.Id say more like 5 percent fidelity difference if anything. .  Suggesting that the xbo will be vastly inferior just wont play out much to the chagrin of tormentos and #teamcow.    I would go wth rons logic over tomatoes :lol: if my life depended on it.

Lol we already know it will be cheaper for M$ to throw their minions a few bananas to write a bunch of comparisons with PS4 to high end PC's, to try and distract us from how much PS4 dukes the Xdud One in the butthurt. 

But the comparison is only relevant to like the .000000000000001% of the population willing to drop serious dough on a GPU that cant even play GTA 5.

How the fuc does that put anything in perspective
