Interesting article, but there are some really fanboyish remarks such as "the infinitely cooler Sony brand name" (compared to Nintendo).

It was "cooler" than Nintendo back in the day.  Nintendo as a whole was viewed as old.  I was in high school back in the late 90s and I remember what people said.  The Playstation was viewed as fresh and cool.  Word of mouth is very, very powerful.

The man, the myth, the outspoken Ken Kuturagi, great article, tells it all really. Created the PS1 and PS2, brought Sony into the videogame industry, risked his career doing so and ultimately flew too close to the sun, like Icarus he soared and like Icarus he fell into the ocean and drowned....
