Interesting article, but there are some really fanboyish remarks such as "the infinitely cooler Sony brand name" (compared to Nintendo).playwithfire17

It was "cooler" than Nintendo back in the day.  Nintendo as a whole was viewed as old.  I was in high school back in the late 90s and I remember what people said.  The Playstation was viewed as fresh and cool.  Word of mouth is very, very powerful.
