WiiFit has been out since 2007 and it in Feb NPD it sold double what Killzone 2 sold in its launch month! Wow. Cant believe Sony spent 30 million on that sales dissapointment

Think Killzone 2 helped move some PS3s? Think again PS3 sales are actually down 2 percent year on year from Feb 08 to Feb 09... the month KZ 2 launched!

Aaron "Green Machine" Greenberg has claimed that Sony's PlayStation 3 business is "hemorrhaging at retail," based on a 2 percent year-on-year drop in hardware sales, announced by NPD last night.

"You can't underestimate that we're half the price of the PS3 at a time when consumers were looking for great value," he told Gamasutra.

"The PS3 was down in February two percent even with the launch of Killzone 2 - that's months of year-over-year declines. Xbox continues to head north while the PS3 is heading south. We're gaining share."

"But what we hear from our partners is that it's not just PS3, it's also PS2 down 62 percent year over year," he continued. "With that business declining, and with the PS3 business declining, it's been described to me as hemorrhaging at retail right now, and it just keeps getting worse.

Seriously with all do respect, what are you talking about? Killzone 2 sales were really good did you see the NPD for Feb? The game came out on Feb 27th and last a check there are only 28 days in Feb. It sold about half the amount of Street Fighter 4 for both consoles in 2 days according to NPD.

Those numbers were for only 2 days in NA. :| Are fanboys getting that desperate?

50 year old soccer moms buy Wii Fit and little kids buy it.. everyone could, essentially, pick one up or more than likely get it as a gift. Everyone and their grandmother isn't interested in Killzone, God Of War, etc.... What i don't understand is.... Why are you happy that another game company is having difficulty moving units? It's not like they are selling a knock-off product with gimmicky crap on it... It's solid games, solid applications, great capability and function... it just needs a spark... Relax yourself, have a coffee or something

Both consoles seem to be doing/did "badly" for fairly similar reasons. With the PS3 it's cost, but when you look at it the cost is due to the inclusion of the Blu-Ray drive, which dosn't actually improve games. With the Gamecube it was because it was unnesecarily gimped becasuse of the use of useless format. I mean really, why would they not use the best format available to them (DVD)? Alot of games on the PS3 are inferior to their XBOX 360 counterparts, just as was the case with Gamecube and PS2/Xbox simply because of some foolish design descisions. The diffrences between PS3 and Xbox 360 are much smaller than they were with the Gamecube though. The Gamecube was a broken console that had some good games. It really deserved to fail for not implementing up to date technology. In terms of technical specification it was actually a better console than the PS2, which makes their descision even more stunning.

PS3 is getting some great games yet nobody outside of this forum seems to give a damn. Reminds me of the Gamecube last gen :)

PS3 is the successor to the almighty PS2, and it's in last place.... LAST PLACE. I'd say that's pretty damn bad, and the fact that its expensive is Sony's damn fault. What do you get out of using this excuse? Bragging rights? Warm fuzzy feelings? :lol:

Funny part is, it doesnt matter how much it sells, because i own it and i get to enjoy it. I'm missing out on nothing here.

Calling a thread a failure when the cold hard numbers are staring you in the faceonly means is they're in a state of damage control.

Nothing more.

Being that looking at VGcharts, NPD numbers, and feeling all warm and fuzzy over sales data is more fun then actually playing the god awful excuses for games that form the better part of Wii software, I can understand why Wii fans are so interested in sales data.
