As a GAMER, I could see me buying a PS3 sometime in 2008

I'm an avid 360 GAMER (not a huge fan of Microsoft and their decisions of late), but I can say that I DID like what I saw from Sony at E3. I don't see me running out and buying a PS3 any time soon, but possibly someday. Microsoft's lineup for 2007 is incredible (Halo 3, Mass Effect, COD4, Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell Conviction, Bioshock, and The Orange Box). I really wish they would have shown more "new" stuff for 2008 and beyond.

Given that and what Sony showed, I can say that I'm considering a PS3 some time on 2008. Killzone 2, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, etc. all look pretty cool. They really need to stop messing around with the SKUs and get serious about getting ONE SKU BELOW $300. Heck, even below $400 would be nice. If they had kept the 20GB model, but got that one below $400 and then below $300, then THAT would be huge. Don't they realize that you can add all the GBs you want, but if you continue to have systems priced at $499 and $599, the PRICE will keep people away? Most people don't care about 20GB vs 60GB vs 80GB. They want to play games and they don't want to pay a lot to do so.

I also want a PS3 later to compliment my Wii -- Wii will still be my Primary console though, unlike many which it will probably be the opposite.

Up until this E3, I had thought that my second console would be the Wii. However, LucasArts keeps dragging their feet in announcing a Wii-lightsaber game, the Nintendo press conference basically confirmed that they are going to press ahead in trying to capture the casual non-gamers, and the games that they DO release for the system will look like they should have been made on the GC (look at that Kart demo).

Thus, I really like how it "seems" that Sony has gotten their big dose of humility and is looking to do things to attract gamers, once again. Time will tell. The nice thing is, with the 360s 2007 lineup (and early 2008 ), I've got time to sit back and play those games and see how Sony's plan unfolds.

Pretty good time to get a PS3 in 08. All the big games like Uncharted, R&C, Lair , Heavenly Sword, are going to be out. Plus you won't have to wait long for MGS4 (if your into MGS) since it's due early 08. Then its Killzone2 if you liked it.

I have to admit you are really rational and logical in your thinking, I like that. I think your reasoning is what many PS2 gamers have at the moment (those who are still playing PS2 and haven't got an XBOX 360 or Wii... and/or a combination of the latter).

As soon as it hits 200 usd , Im there.

And the more people who don'tbuys one now. The faster it will go down. So don't buy one this year at all.

Sony will then have no choice but to drop the price. I'm serious.

I ain't paying more than 200 bills for that thing.

Instead of having the 20GB system down to $200, they will be on their 8th SKU and be introducing a 300GB model for $599 and dropping the price of the 250GB model down to $499...

please - nintendo might be going after the casual market -- but they still have games for the hardcore - 5 games in the span of 5 months, that are all considered 'must buys' is good enough for me -- i dont have time to play games for long periods of time, so its good.

Why is it a matter of trust? The PS3 works fine so far... I mean the console in itself.

Just for my knowledge - what are those 5 "hardcore" games that the Wii got?

Now, I don't consider a game to be "hardcore" just because it has bullets flying everywhere and gore, but a "hardcore" game is one that (a) has very high production values, (b) is deep in gameplay, (c) pushes technology, and/or (d) takes a med/high level of skill to complete.

Anyone who calls themselves a gamer should definitely be very interested in getting one by the end of 2008. Even this fall. But next year Sony has it on lock regarding the games. There's honestly no forseeable competition :?.

I bet when you get a PS3, you'll begin to change your mind :P. But I look at all of my systems as companion consoles, not primary or secondary.

Good logic. Most people don't realize that in any given year, a console will ONLY have 4-5 great games, a handful of good games, and a whole lot of filler. The Wii will still have the GREAT games, but the abscence of alot of filler makes it look otherwise.
