People will do everything for money. Finding a loop hole in a contract to gain money off of a two week outage? How does not being able to play game online even warrent a 5million dollar lawsuit? Think because they were probably thinking that they could get MS to pay them to STFU but I guess MS won't let that fly. I seriously hope MS comes out victorious.

Also I dunno if this is system wars worthy. Just wanted to here to opinion of everyone :P.

Outrageous cases like these have been won though. I remember one where a thief fell in a man's chimney and he sued the man and won. I was like WTF? Why is the thief even there? He is trying to steal from the guy, hurts himself, gets caught and is reward with a large cheque. Yea that's some justice there.

The us courts seriously need to look beyond the law with some of these retarded cases.

The thing is, if they do find a good enough loop hole in the contract they actually have a chance of winning this. I think they USA is the only country that would even accept a case like this. Any where else might charge YOU for wasting the courts time. Oh sorry for the stereotyping there.

MS`s lawyers will make them sound very stupid and most likely put them in their place.......there isnt any damage done and microsoft actually apologized for the problems and will give everyone a free xbl live arcade.....i wonder if MS could actually counter-suit them...that would be fun to watch

Because these type of cases only happen in the US because your laws/courts allow it. Hence my example of it but I will edit that to take out the stereotyping.

Thank you, but knowing people think that way is unsettling. It's simply not true.

I know. I heard of a lady sueing Starbucks, because she got burned from their coffee. She was at the drive thru, got her coffee, took the lid off, put it between her legs instead of a cup holder, and drove off. Her coffee spilled all over her and she got burned so she sued, and got away with it

It was scary when I knew people thought that way about Americans. It's even more frightening that someone went through the trouble of creating another account to spread that kind of garbage.

Here's a list of the stuff I'm talking about. But we are straying from the point, fanboism aside I really WANT MS to win this. If they lose the next thing we know XBL has some sort of stupid new policy or game makers stray from down stuff that we generally enjoy.

Yea because of cases like those, all companies now put danger signs on their products, even if its the stupidest precaution.

the only reason people stereotype to americans is it is because its the only country where such outrageous law suits take place

the star bucks, and burglar in the chimeny are perfect examples.

and because people are able to do these ridiculous law suits they immediatley seek to further exploit it... like how is a company liable for you spilling coffee on yourself? yet they can get sued for it!

If you venture outside of the US you will see that people don't run around sueing people willy-nilly ( sorry for the exageration, but it very much appears that way ) and before anyone goes blaming other countrys do you ever hear of a lawsuit about a theif sueing the person they were trying to rob because they got hurt in the process !?!?

I think it is ridiculous, and the fact that the legal system doesn't fine them for overall stupidity blows my mind.

"Oh no, I can't play video games for a few days! I can never pay for these 5 million dollars in damages, I better sue!"
