ASDA suspends Wii U stock

Retail giant Asda is no longer stocking Wii U consoles across its 555 retail outlets, dealing a new blow to Nintendo's bid to reverse the console's fortunes.

The grocer, Britain's second-largest, has suspended stock on all Wii U games, consoles and accessories across its stores, though eight products (all released during the Wii U's November 2012 launch) remain available on the Asda Direct website.

CVG understands that the company did not stock Nintendo's latest release, Pikmin 3, a widely acclaimed title which entered at number two on the UK all formats charts.

Wii U is doomed.

The company understands that they didn't stock Pikmin 3... THAT close to the release of that game? Jeez, that's cold, ASDA.

EDIT: Then again, seeing that one of your stores sells even NEW games in a way that's pretty dumb (like unseal the games and take the disc out), doesn't exactly make your store an ideal place to buy games from anyway. But buying SEALED DVD's (I did buy Jackie Chan's Police Story, one of his older Hong Kong Action films from there) seems to be FINE for whatever reason.

The sheep populous has been very thin as of late.  I almost forgot they exist.   This console doesn't even seem like it's apart of the competition anymore.   What's sad is that Nintendo don't even appear to be doing anything about it.   Just more Mario and Zelda, and carry on as usual.   I doubt the Wii U will have a long forfilling life span at this point.

I take it the Wii U will be like the Gamecube where many shops don't stock it's games.

Update: They are still selling some software for the system.

Here's something to note... ASDA isn't stocking the 3DS either, nevermind the system doing so much better than the consoles at the moment (source: the same article). They must have some sort of bad relation with Nintendo if even their top selling system isn't being stocked.

I guess i feel bad for Nintendo, not the new Nintendo and what they have become. I still have a soft spot for the old school Nintendo and how great they used to be. The sad part is how long will this continue?

Another reason why some U.K. store suspending (as in probably not permanent) the stocking of Wii-U's is not a big deal.
