Assassin's Creed: Rogue Is Surprisingly Good. GS: 6/10.

Okay, before you mofos treat this as a blog, it isn't. It's... an awareness thread!

I'm already pretty drunk, so I'll try and make this comprehensible. Unity has received a LOT of coverage, for better or worse, but there was another AC coming - Rogue. The **** is Rogue? Exactly. Who knows? It's an AC game for 360 and Ps3(PC version later), and it went under the radar like a motherfucker. Why care about a last gen AC? Unity is out. Next gen. Pretty graphics, all that. But what about Rogue?

To quote Jeff Gerstmann: It just showed up in the mail, not prior to release, so maybe they didn't want a better game than Unity overshadowing it.

Now, this thread isn't about me talking of how better this is than Unity. I can't. I haven't played Unity. I'm just here to tell you that Rogue... Rogue's kinda cool. It's a lot like AC4, except this time you're a Templar? What does this mean? Well, you're not exactly going after targets that are easy to kill. You're going after assassins that are smarter than the average person with a sword. They hunt you, too. Imagine being the NPC being stalked by you in any of the other games, and this game is that. Assassins jump out of haystacks, jump from buildings, come around corners to kill you. It's easy to fend them off though, but it gives you a different perspective. Shay Cormac is also one cool dude. He's like a sophisticated Danny O'Dwyer. There's also quite a lot of AC3 throwbacks and characters .Helps if you played it, if you haven't.. then don't. I don't know.. Look it up on wikipedia.

Like I've said, it's pretty much like Black Flag, but it shows they didn't want to put out a carbon copy to make a quick buck. There's heart in this game. Plus, I've only had to do one tail mission so far, which already makes it better than Black Flag.

TL;DR AC: Rogue is surprisingly good, and it's well on its way to having me prefer it over Black Flag. It's not a simple cash grab. There's some nice additions to it, and the premise of you being a Templar isn't a throw-away thing. I hope people give this a chance, because it's pretty damn good.

Also, one of the weapons in this game is aFucking hell.

I'll wait for the next gen version. It does sound better than unity.

Oh yeah, I can totally see them doing an AC: Rogue HD version.

Does it still have all those side missions and things to do on the map that are completely pointless? That's what I found odd in the AC games I played.

Well, yeah, it's an open world game. Side content in general tends to be useless.

Nah, it's definitely an AC game. A lot like Black Flag.

Surprisingly good for Ass Creed standards or in general? Cuz if its for Ass Creed standards that's a 5/10 for general gaming. I saw the quick look and felt asleep (jeff and the other guy didn't seem to enjoy it either).

I'm probably thinking with my RPG hat on where open world quests usually are worth doing. In AC1 and AC2 I kept asking myself WTF am I bothering with this? I liked Black Flag on PS4, what I played of it anyway. It's probably just not my type of game ultimately though I've always liked the stories and past/present aspect.

Well, if you dug AC4, then you'll probably like this. There's some side stuff worth doing, because the rewards are pretty sweet.

I gotta applaud the devs. They came from the horrible Price of Persia Trilogy (awful audio problems, one of my worst purchases ever) to the pretty terrible AC: Liberation. And now this seems to be up the level of Black Flag... very nice.

Nah, I'm playing Black Flag at the moment. Really nice naval combat, but the other gameplay is getting really stale. Going to take a break from AC for a while...

I liked it. I didn't go with the shitty Vita version though, because **** Vita.

A team can improve. If I didn't believe that, I would've never played the Arkham games.

So far I'm really enjoying the game (rented at Redbox). That's coming from someone who hasn't really liked an AC game since the Enzio ones (I still haven't opened my copy of Unity). I'll definitely be buying this game for $35 on Black Friday.

Eh, it's still a good example of a meh developer making themselves go through "these guys are cool" kind of developer.

Yeah, Rogue seems a lot better. Anything related to Black Flag has to be good.

Very, very close. I haven't finished it yet, but it could very well beat it.

The lack of tailing missions, and the environments being that much more varied makes a lot of difference.

Oh yeah, definitely. I'm surprised by how much I'm enjoying it, considering it's this "backseat" AC game.
