who would only do the main quest though?
That's great!!!
18hrs for a Action/adventure game is amazing. These days.
Look at Heavenly Sword... :(
Almost all game developers lie about how long itll take until an average player finishes a game. Sure it varies but the game developers still like to give their game more press like they were meant to do.
I think I'll be playing it like GTA, so it will be more than 40 hours for me, if I am free to roam any time.

Exactly. This is one of those games which I think everyone will want to milk for every drop it offers. I know I sure as hell am going to. I got this baby paid for and reserved.

That seems like a really good length for this type of game, I dont know if I would want it to be any longer than that.

oh yeah, cuz heavenly sword is an rpg, right? how did i confuse that??
you might as well compare halo 3's single player to assassins' creed going by your logic(5 hours :D)
that's pitiful for an rpg. i logged over 50+ hours beating the main story of final fantasy 12.
assassins creed loooks awesome, but that is way too short.

It's not an RPG.
and to the idiot who thought 18 hours is too short for a video game...if you have 50+ hours to spend on a game you have:
A. no life
B. no job
C. no friends
D. all of the above
and if you didnt think heavenly sword was too short...wow...
Wait, why would it matter if someone puts 50+ in a game rather than 50 hours spread out between 5 games?and to the idiot who thought 18 hours is too short for a video game...if you have 50+ hours to spend on a game you have:

Halo 3's single player might be 5 hours on easy with 4 other players via online co-op. It took me 8 hours on normal, 8 hours on heroic, 6 hours 4-player co-op on legendary. This isn't even including the hours logged looking for skulls (which I've found them all) and all the other easter eggs. Hell, I havn't even gotten a chance to really explore all of the levels yet, and find all the easter eggs. Did I mention Halo 3 actually has a multiplayer mode?

He's a PS3 fanboy saying 18 hours for a single player only game is pitiful. I point out Heavenly Sword, a single player only game, logging in at 7.

Assassin's Creed is multiplat...so this isnt a PS3 vs 360 issue no need to start a war. And GeoW's multiplayer is broken last I heard anyway. Assassin's Creed is multiplat...so this isnt a PS3 vs 360 issue no need to start a war. And GeoW's multiplayer is broken last I heard anyway. True gamers dont need achievement points to replay a game.I wasn't trying to defend the XBOX 360. I was defending Assassin's Creed; I could care less if it were PS3 exclusive or Wii exclusive. I merely used a game that a PS3 fanboy would probably defend to the ends of the earth to drive my point. Take it for what it's worth, but it's an effective tool for arguing and driving points.
Gears of War's multiplayer is not broken, but I personally don't like the balance. You can also glitch in the game, but it's not as prominent anymore. And it still doesn't count out Online Co-Op and normal Co-Op, which Heavenly Sword don't have -- so I still don't see your point.
True gamer? What the hell is a true gamer? Somebody that plays video games all day? Achievement points merely add a reward factor outside of general enjoyment. If you've studied Psychology (I'll assume you have), you should know that adding a reward tends to drive an individual towards a goal much more than a goal without a reward. It's also just fun to beat the game on every difficulty and to beat it with a friend.
By the way, I don't even like Gears of War anymore. It's just not to my taste, especially since I was never an Epic fan to begin with. It doesn't change the fact that it's still a good game, even if I don't like it.

Gears of War is a good game.....but it was still too short(I have avoided buying heavenly sword for the same reason) but a good game it doesnt stop being a good game even if I can beat it in less than a day. As for achievment points, I like to think as adult human beings we are smart enough to fall for clas sical or operant conditioning(Psychology isnt my major, but I have delved into the science in several ****s) when doing something we all claim to enjoy.True gamers replay good game because it is fun, not to compensate for something else. Basically Im saying that bringing up achievement points as adding replay values is really lame.[QUOTE="Apathetic-Irony"][QUOTE="Truth-slayer"][QUOTE="Apathetic-Irony"][QUOTE="Truth-slayer"][QUOTE="Apathetic-Irony"][QUOTE="mistervengeance"][QUOTE="batistafan99"]40+ hoursTruth-slayer

Basically Im saying that bringing up achievement points as adding replay values is really lame. You mistook my comment then = People do replay it because it's fun, but I cannot tell you how many times I got messages from friends asking me to join their game so they could beat the game on Insane (just for the sake of it) or to get the Don achievement. It's like an extra bonus -- it's fun but the achievements give a tangable meaning to it. To put it bluntly: People replay it for enjoyment, achievements are a little bonus.
And I never said Heavenly Sword wasn't a good game, if that's what you were implying. I was merely pointing out that a game mistervengeance most likely defends to the ends of the Earth is less than half of the total play time as Assassin's Creed. =)
lol how did this go into a gears of war vs heavenly sword argument. assassin's creed is going to last me more than 40 hours, i'll be looking for everything and i'll probably play it over againbatistafan99
It wasn't a Gears vs HS argument =( It was a misunderstanding over whether I was, or not, turning this into a bash the PS3 thread. He was using Gears of War as a count example. I pushed that to the side, and then pointed out the HS reference was merely to defend Assassin's Creed, not to bash Heavenly Sword.
