Wrong, did you read the article, they did it to avoid fanboy Crap, Xbone didn't hold back the Ps4, feckless fanboys did.
All the fanboys on here thought they could act like total Cocks and didn't think there would be consequences, Developers Hate system wars.
WTF.............hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Come on man last gen 95% of the games were superior on 360 and 360 fans discuss that sh** to hell and beyond, not one developer hold back the 360 because the PS3 was to difficult man.'
This was Ubisoft 100% sure pay by MS and the deal they have on this game, today Ubi basically confirm it,they gimped the PS4 version because the xbox one version all it could reach was 900p.
I would juts love to see them cap the fu*8ing game on PC to see reactions,oh wait they did on Watchdogs same company same sh** they hell back the PC version so that it didn't over shadow consoles,i am a console owner but that is total bullsh** and a shame is a disrespectful move by a company just like EA did by capping NFS at 30FPS on PC.
Is an insult to any one who invested in a GPU powerful enough to run that game like they wanted,i would not even dare supporting a game like that,i own AC BF on PS4,they can shove AC unity down their buns i don't want that crap.
Not even on PC i would buy it,who know if they did the same sh** they did to Watchdogs.

My only question is if the CPU is bottlenecking, not exactly a stretch to say, wouldn't mean they would have to use GPGPU to offload some work from the CPU. If this happened wouldn't this then tax the GPU even more.
And if so wouldn't lowering the resolution free up resources to allow the GPU to better assist the CPU. I'm not a computer engineer in anyway but I have a basic knowledge and the way I know things work is you have to manage resources and things aren't infinite. If you give away resources you have to take from somewhere else. Anyway this is just a question I have no idea how GPGPU works (i'm under the impression it uses GPU cores) so maybe it's different. But if it's using GPU resources to assist the CPU then lowering the resolution kinda makes sense.
Yep you are right if the PS4 had to use GpGPU it would probably tax the GPU,the problem is that if the PS4 used lets say 2 CU for compute that still leave 16 CU for rendering and 16 CU still >>>> 12 CU inside the xbox one.
Not only that since the CPU are the same that would imply that the xbox one would also need 2 GPU CU from its GPU to match the PS4 GpGPU performance.
This is simple the xbox one has 12CU and a 8 core jaguar, the PS4 has 18 CU and a 8 core jaguar.
The only CPU benchmark we have give actually the edge to the PS4,even that the xbox one CPU is 1.75mhz and the PS4 1.6,i think HSC and GDDR5 are the reason for that.
So parting from the point that both CPU are alike and that if the PS4 CPU could not cut it,the xbox one would cut it even less,if the PS4 used GpGPU that would also mean the xbox one need it GpGPU,so that would still mean a gap in favor of the PS4 10 CU vs 16 CU.
For example running physics on the GPU would take a fraction of the power it would take CPU and would be faster,so using GpGPU for compute is a good one, problem is the xbox one also need the same GpGPU to pull those same resource, not only that the PS4 was better customize to handle GpGPU than the xbox one was volatile bit 8 aces 64 commands, the end result would still be the same or even worse.

lol el tormrntos why are you comparing a linear scripted fps vs a open ended free roam game that will have dozens upon dozens to hundreds of npc's doing things in real time across the area.... Unity is not being limited by the 360 or PS3 which means that core design how the game/hardware handles cells/areas will be different. Dont be in denial about how weak the PS4 and X1 cpu's are, fact is that 30 fps standard is there in ensure a stable experience in stead of fluctuating framerates when the action kicks up. Now the PS4 could have handled 1080p without much an issue but UBi does not too rattle cages among fanboys.
Developers would have to redesign the graphics engine to make use of gpgpu, like with physics, and fact is that not too many engines have that flexibility. Now once engines like Ureal Engine 4 come out gpgpu workloads will become more common place.
Free roaming doesn't stop the game for been scripted dude, what the fu** all games are scripted when a sudden mission appear out of no where when you did something yeah that was a script, when you do a mission to progress the story that was a script, the difference is that you have multiple way to do things and on FPS mostly you are been guided basically.
The simple fact that you eat this sh** when you know Ubisoft hyded PC setting to on purpose gimp PC graphics so that they didn't over shadow the consoles say it all, that Jaguar is enough for anything those GPU do those are not freaking titan black that would be hurt by those GPU those are low end GPU which are made to work with normal CPU not ultra powerful top of the line ones.
When GpGPU kick into place the xbox one will fall even more behind the PS4 was modify for it.

Dx12=cpu optimization
Cloud cpu offloading AI in forza drivatars and titanfall bots and AI background and etc.
Obviously MS knows that the CPU is a bottleneck.
Like I said the ps4 is holding the industry back
lol..hahahaaaaaaaaaaaa
