I have seen so many comments today that us Pc gamers play on these tiny screens without game pads or surround sound. Here is a picture of my setup, remove the 360 i have sold that long time ago now there is a PS3 in that place. So as you can see i sit on a couch and play my PC games in comfort with a gamepad and surround sound.

i know the wiring in this picture is a little messy i have everything hidden now since i moved to a new apartment few months ago.

I like my monitor. But yes, PCs can be set up to a TV and so many console only gamers seem to think that for whatever reason that option does not exist.

Its kinda ironic because my 32 inch vizio doesnt do 1080p but my 22 inch monitor does and looks miles better.

I mostly use my triple monitor eyefinity setup when I play on my PC, but I have an HDMI cord connecting my PC to my 42" inch for whenever I feel like watching a movie or playing a game with a friend.

That's right people. Local multiplayer still exists on PC.

That's a nice setup you got there what size is your t.v? I'm personally using my pc hooked up to 2 HDTV displays at once. My pc is is in my room at my desk where i use a wall mounted 32" 1080p panasonic lcd with a full 360motion wall mount so i can pull it of the wall angle it what ever way i want and even turn it 90 degress on the side for viewing pics in portrait mode my sound system is a cheap creative 5.1 speaker setup there. Through the use of a 30foot hdmi cable,32 foot active extension usb cable and a powered 7 port hub i have my pc hooked up the 60" 1080p 3D Mitsubishi DLP and oknyo 5.1 surround sound system. I Can easily switch between the 2 setups just by switching which output is used for audio. I have plans to add a 50-60" plasma along with another 5.1 system to my pc as well wall mounted in front on my bed as my 32" looks so small when i'm playing from my bed. I would post pic but room is messy and its late right now.

Read my post above and sleep mode/hibernate ftw i almost never shutdown my pc completely unless i have to since i hate waiting for it to boot up but don't want it needlessly wasting power while i'm not using it.

Yeah a few weeks ago I decided to make use of the HDMI port on my video card and connect it to my 720p 32" HDTV. So I played the Crysis 2 demo with a gamepad :P and it was pretty sick, very smooth frame rate with a low res like 720p, but still looked fantastic since its my TV's native res, or close to it at least. And I guess its easy for some people if they have their PC's close to their TV's, but I think for most it would be amajor inconvenience having to drag their PC, at least it would be for me if I had to move it around.

I have a 22" monitor for my PC with a 7.1 headset. I also have a 720p/1080i projector that I hook up to my PC sometimes with the surround hooked up.

Yep, I don't understand the motivation to sit away from the screen. Maybe it's just my bad eyes, but I usually prefer sitting close. Feel like I'm missing things when I sit back.

It's nice because I can have my consoles and PC at a desk and use the same monitor for all of them.

I honestly prefer headphones and a 24" monitor for PC gaming in a dark room. It's all about the immersion. Putting PC gaming in a console environment like that ruins it. Call me old school but that's how I feel.

I prefer my 22inch 1080 monitor, kb/m, headphones, and office chair. I tried connecting my PC to a 50-something inch 1080p TV and it just didn't feel right.

Not only do I see a hell of a lot more detail on my monitor but I also feel more comfortable in my chair... old school ftw :P

find me a console that boots up in less than 3 secs. That's all it takes to turn on a computer from sleep mode. Plus pc games start much faster than console games. The media center pc is nothing new and there are people with multiple consoles one for the bedroom and one for the lounge.

My computer's hooked up to a 32" 1080p tv and a 10 year old stereo, still sounds wonderful. Sorta would like surround sound, would be nice to hear people from behind..

Unless you're still using a cartridge console, I don't think you boot much faster than a pc... especially with the vastly slower loading.

I dont have that rig anymore, i got a gaming laptop for now. i was just showing that we can do this as alot of people dont know this here. Im ordering new parts from newegg this monday including a 24" monitor as i do like gaming on monitors better also. The only reason i had that TV hokked up was because my monitor broke lol. I do love playin my PS3 with that TV.

You cannot play for realz on a tv. You need to be sitting close and in teh game, ofc consoles players never experience this unless they hook it up to a monitor in which case it looks horrendously ugly.

Nah man. We got 3 1080p 3D LG projectors lined up on angular walls with 200" screens.

Console gamers got little, tiny CRT screens.

Attention! Attention!

Most statistics are made up!

The story isn't any different here, where our friendly neighborhood console fanboy just completely fabricated the 99% figure he mentions above!

This has been a test of the emergency fanboy deception system.

If this had been a really big emergency the following keywords would have been seen: "Upgrade", "10 seconds", "$1,000,0000", "Rich", "KZ3", "has better graphics", "IMHO".

Just to toss some more anecdotal evidence your way, I too have one of my PC's hooked up to my HDTV. My Home Theater PC does te job of a roku, a dvr and a console, plus much more. And I know at least 5 people who also use a TV as their vidoe output device for their PC.

Don't have the ability or can't do it conveniently?

If your TV doesn't have a VGA connector, your video card probably has an HDMI port anyway (hell, if you have a recent video card you probably don't even have a VGA port in the first place). So I'd say 99% of PC gamers with big TVs have the ability to hook their PCs up to it whenever they please...

I've got my PC hooked to both TV and monitor, it's great for watching tv shows and movies off my PC, but I prefer to play games on the monitor even when I use a gamepad, I see the details better, get better control and find it more immersive to sit close up, I guess I could sit closer to the TV as well but can't bother moving anything.

i have a similar setup, built-in wireless hdmi is just around the corner and will make this much more common. AMD has pretty much perfected tv out starting with the 5xxx series cards, its just a matter of time before everyone catches on.

Yeah i play on a 66" super widescreen LOL (eyefinity) and I hook up my laptop to a 50" 1080p plasma and play BF2 or I just play Battlefield Heroes on my Media tower that is also hooked up to my 50" plasma. I know it sucks too that I have to sit on my lazy boy or couch and use a xbox 360 controller to play and be confortable as well all while doing it. Oh well I guess i need to do it all on my PS3 for ultimate comfort. LOL

Personally, the most important thing about my gaming hobby is my comfort level. LOL.

What a terrible argument huh? I bet that is one of the only hobbies in the world where people argue for the 'comfort' factor.

Take note consolers - the comfort argument is hilarious!

That's a very nice set-up and your point is well made to debunk that myth, however, I find most of my PC gaming friends don't bother setting it up like that even though it's an option. Seems they prefer their PC monitors and playing at their desk.

I like my monitor. But yes, PCs can be set up to a TV and so many console only gamers seem to think that for whatever reason that option does not exist.

a lot of people don't think its an option because a lot of PC games are set up around a short viewing distance and need a keyboard and mouse, its also more comfortable using a keyboard and mouse at a desk...

Accidentally bumping into the speaker had to have been a PITA.

I'd rather not have a long ass wire going across the room that'd constantly get in the way as I'd alternate between using the monitor and TV, but the wireless Logitech S510 mouse I got can be flaky. It works fine for UI type stuff, but when trying it out for games the mushy lag became a problem. Another issue is that of sitting on the edge of your couch hunched over the table not really working. Mouse and keyboard was kind of designed around a desk. How are you solving that whole situation?

Works great with a 360 controller though. When I had a GPU worth speaking of, playing something like Tomb Raider Underworld was exactly what you'd want and expect it to be. It's like playing a 360 game with more than twice the resolution, twice the framerate and all the annoying little LOD, filtering, aliasing etc. issues gone. It was striking how much better it looked and performed. Like an HD remake from the future.
