For those of you that have had a merry christmas and received a xbox 360 as a gift, if you already dont have Gears of war.. BUY IT ASAP! I know you might be having second thoughts because its over a year old, but i assure you! This game STILL beats any other game out now period on consoles!! Well maybe with the exception of COD4, but aside from COD4, YOU MUST OWN GEARS! The online is fun and addiciting and the single player campaign is top notch also. You will not regret it, ive owned this game since the day it came out, and now a year later i still play it daily and i am still amazed by the amazing gameplay and graphics to this day! So if you got a 360 for christmas and you still dont have Gears.. BUY IT.. NOW
After the fact and all the hype died down, I found gears to be less entertaining than expected. If I was new to the 360 scene I'd get CoD4 and never glance back at Gears.
I was never having second thoughts about buying it because of it's age. It's only a year old after all. Gears is going to be the game I will be picking up next.
Worth a rent but not much else. I've played it the least out of all my games on 360, seeing as it only takes 5-6 hours to beat and the multiplayer, well i have no comment because i never played it. Didn't seem like it would make a good multiplayer. PLUS its supposed to be a buggy mess online.
You guys are crazy.Gears is the reason i bought my 360 and its still the main reason why i play it today after all this time.. Gears is by far one of the most amazing games out to date on consoles and no 360 owner should go without.. You can rent it if you want go right ahead, but just know you will be paying a crap load of money because you will keep re renting it because its just that good infact as good as COD4 is, i actually found COD4 to get boring faster because its just so repetitive. with gears there are so many different type of scenarios and you can use team based skill more.. With COD4 yea its amazing but its basically.. Take a few steps, get shot, respawn, get a kill, take a few more steps and get killed again. With gears you have to plan out your attacks
I have to agree, Gears of War is a must own 360 game. But, TC, why do you care if they buy it or not? I'm sure there are plenty of gamers still playing it.

oh i know a crap load of people still play it online. Im just saying that 360 owners owe it to themselves to own a game so good. No game has ever kept me occupied for over a year.. With Gears of war i still play it to this day and i actually enjoy it more now than i did when it first came out
I know where you guys are coming from with COD4. COD4 is truly an amazing game, but i can only play that game so much at a time or it gets boring quick.. For instance ill play it non stop for a few days or a week then all of a sudden i get sick of it and i go a week without playing it then i start missing it like crazy.. Its awesome but it gets repetitive fast and you really dont use that much team based work.. Even in search and destroy game type, you still dont use that much team work.
With Gears, Team work is key to victory.. For instance in "Gridlock" i usually cover my teammate going for boom and kill the guy on the other team who is trying to kill my guy going for boom.. With COD4 sure it has team deathmatch but it feels like regular deathmatch if you ask me

Similar situation, I rented Gears of War, didnt even finish it, grey and repetitive, even the multiplayer.
Plz dont buy it, the online is a louisy 4vs4 max and even then it will lag and the campaign is short and nothing new or interesting jsut a average 3rd Person Shooter

Gears is a must own for all 360 owners. The campaign isn't short, cod4's campaign was short, yet it still mananaged to do well. Everyone who says its overated has never played it or can't get over that the host is harder to kill.

its only like that if you dont know what your doing. getting 17 kills to 1 death or whatever is uber satisfying.
