A review has popped up from Videogamer.com

Before you yell that it's paid or corrupt, they bought their own copy of COD AW in order to get around the review embargo that doesn't lift until tomorrow (Nov 3rd)

"Instead we bought the game ourselves and present this review without any form of embargo to adhere to."

Reviewer seemed to enjoy the multiplayer, highlighting the gun-on-gun gameplay with less focus on rolling killstreaks and the Map design combined with the exo suit movement. He also noted the TTK seemed fair, but some weapons are OP--hopefully balanced later

The campaign is also given praise for being fun in its own right, mentioning it's about 8 hours. And for you House of Cards fans: " Spacey chews the scenery with an Underwood-style verve as he plans to establish global military supremacy"

Overall:

"Still, these are small problems in a superb overall package, one that has me interested in Call of Duty again. For a future warfare title with drones and jetpacks, Sledgehammer's success is partly to be found by looking to the series' past, and by combining its own ideas with COD's natural appeal it has reinvigorated the franchise."

  • The exosuits are fun, and reinvigorate a stale franchise.
  • Multiplayer maps are superb.
  • Campaign isn't totally rubbish.
  • Some weapons are overpowered.

Who knew the creators of COD could screw up so bad, yet newcomers could finally give some refreshment to the series that so many people have been asking for years.

The game is not even out yet, how do you buy the game and how do you test it properly against the hundreds of thousands of players?

People on consoles have had it for a good part of this past week and playing online.

On PC, day zero has already started today in NZ and Australia

That is disappointing, there is a built in survival mode but it's not on the same level as Zombies

I'm only interested in the campaign. I'll have to borrow my brother's 360 version sometime next year. Woulda bought it this year if it was on Wii U.

i expect 8 on GS and most sites. Seems to be another COD, but fresh enough on some mechanics to warrant some points up.

it is dumb, anyways Im happy they pointed out that the multiplayer maps are superb. In my opinion the maps is what make multiplayer fun or not. Black ops 1 had awesome maps and thats what made that game the last COD game worthwhile.

If Ghosts and BF4 both managed to get an 8, then AW will no doubt be the same or higher (On Gamespot).

Usual cod with better mechanics. I'm more interested in the campaign, but multiplayer has been fun with friends. Gonna get this one on the ps4 though, capped 90 Fps on PC sounds terrifying.

Yeah that's real nice of Activison.

I'm interested to see what Treyarch did in that time too.

But IW ? Nah, they are as good as dead.

The settings options seem pretty good. Thank god for FOV.

If performance is good, it'll have to give it up to the devs

@lostrib: I have read that. But I could see a 90 Fps cap preventing a nice chunk of pc gamers from getting it. The only problem with cod on the PC has always been the population. If this cod has a decent 10k-20k after the first month I might just grab it on the PC (on sale of course.)

First games were capped at 30, then 60 now 90 ? I'd say we're going in the right direction :D

I've been watching ps4 streams this week and I'm really disappointed in the map design. The game seems better than Ghosts but that's not saying much. The suits seem overhyped as well, they don't change the gameplay up that much. Also, why the fk would they put the chat in the middle of the screen? They're patching that, right?

On the other hand, some people are already starting to stream Assassins Creed Unity on ps4 and it looks better than I thought. The city looks very dense and packed with activity.

The only people who care are 120/144hz people, which I imagine is not that significant. I can't imagine many PC gamers take COD that seriously anymore anyways. But apparently it does actually require 6GB of RAM (according to random people on the interwebs), which could be a more serious issue than 91fps.

I wonder if the FPS lock is because the new "built from scratch" engine is still based around frame rate so that certain higher frame rates result in faster movement/jumping/rate of fire.

If Advanced Warfare is good, I cannot wait to see what the fine folks at Treyarch have cooked up for us.

Hopefully something as awesome as Black Ops.

Yeah, a lot did. And Titanfall is a nice evolution from COD too. I also think a lot of devs left IW for other jobs within the industry too.

The review literally does what a review is supposed to do- it tells you what the reviewers thought of the game.

What you want is not a review, you want some gameplay footage and hands on impressions. Go look for those, and stop complaining about a review that does exactly what its job should be.

based on lawsuits, Activision didn't pay out royalties/bonuses to IW employees which is why like half of them left, resulting in Sledgehammer games being pulled in to help develop MW3

I am a bit wary about that part, because I wasn't a huge fan of MW3 so I wonder what sledgehammer's role was in creating that game

I think they mainly did parts of the MP before, not sure.

I was joking though. Of course they need to pay royalties and bonuses. They got filthy rich from the series and can't even pay the people who make it what they deserve ? How cheap of them.

You really think a 90 fps cap will turn off potential buyers? What percentage of pc gamers even have monitors over 60 hz anyway? I would imagine it's a small amount and I doubt they would care.

Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch seem to be what Infinity Ward was back in 2007. Now Infinity War is the laughing stock and the joke.

TBH I always like Treyarch better, Black Ops 1 is still my favorite COD experience,

With the Target buy 2 get 1 free sale I might pick this one up.

Yeah, those finicky bastards getting upset for not getting paid. How ridiculous of them

Hmmmm, well MW3 MP was ruined in a good part because of the shit lag comp, so hopefully that doesn't return. But I guess I'll see soon enough of this MP is at least enjoyable, or if I have made yet another mistake (i.e. Ghosts)

I am looking forward to this game. It looks to be the first real change to the CoD formula for a few years. The movement mechanic tweaks may seem small, but their impact will be gigantic.

It's to tell people what the reviewer thought of the game. That is what a review is.

You sound like one of those people who would be happy with something like this,
