I wonder who would this affect most and, how many more isp's are going to follow the lead.

Did i accidentally fall into a worm hole that transported me back 6 years, or did you really just post an article from 2002?

They cap my limit or speed without informing me I'll sue and if they do inform me I'll just inform them that I will be closing my debit account.

Ugh, there is no way they could workaround it in a way that it would still cap the stuff like Kazaa, Rapidshare, etc. and not affect online gaming? Would that be possible? Personally I don't care about the p2p file sharing crap, but if it affected online gaming it would be absolutely ridiculous.

That would be friggin' crazy if it somehow limited the amount one could game online (or crippled performance online, etc.)

This doesn't affect me as my friend works for the cable company and he hooked up a cable modem in my house for free and I don't have to pay for anything. Good luck to the rest.

Lawsuits am confirmed for the first company that tries this...oh wait.. Timewarner already has and was slapped with however many suits, and that was just a trial type of thing governed to a small county here in Texas. Mass fallout to whichever company adopts this permanantly.

Well, if it goes all the way to 2002 and it still isn't affecting any of us I don't think we have anything to worry about.

We'll make this thread again in 2014, when it still isn't affecting us.

Hi, this is me from the year 2014. I was just going back through the GS forum archives when I came upon this thread. No need to worry fellas, because there is still no cap on usage. And no, we do not have flying cars.

I think most of us who pay attention to the news are aware of the net neutrality debate. And you should know that if there really was a cap on how much you could download there would be rioting in the street. Net neutrality will remain, you can quote me.

Hmm... now that I think about it, my internet speed has been *#$%)# during certain periods of time, even though I pay extra for the faster DSL speed. I wonder if SBC is implementing some sort of speed cap limit. It really bites cause it even slows down my web browser and it takes forever to load pages like GameSpot.

I hate how ISP's think that piracy is an issue they can solve.foxhound_fox

They just use the piracy card to masquerade their lack of investment in infrastructure.

Besides, they sell more bandwidth then they have avaliable and more and more download/streaming services pop in, more users are served and they just can't handle it.

macabalony

The problem wasn't that the action is illegal per se - it's not. The problem comcast was in was because they advertised unlimited internet. 250GB, while a large amount, is not unlimited.
