Ever had a time where a fantastic game you were playing was abruptly interrupted by something so crap you couldn't take it? I sure have.

I'd have to say the worst thing I've ever seen in a good game, were all the vehicle sections in Mass Effect. I literally rued those things. The first time I entered one on Noveria I had trouble getting the damn thing to go straight, it felt like I was trying to control a wagon being pulled by a stubborn hippo. I finally got through that thing... then screwed up and died. I hadn't saved since before the vehicle section, but I couldn't take it again, so I stopped playing for a good couple weeks...

What's the worst thing you've ever seen in a great game?

In Oracle of Ages, that minigame where you had to throw something at a conveyor belt to get a piece of meat (or something...it's hazy now...) stopped me dead in my tracks and I never finished the game because it was so goddamn difficult. Got Oracle of Seasons instead.

The bus level in InFamous, on Hard. Staying alive on top of that thing is hard enough, zapping like 7 different guys shooting RPG's at you all at once is a royal pain. I was so relieved when I beat that level, so I saved, and I quit... the next day, I found out that the game doesn't save mid-mission. FFFFFFUUUUU

That was the one mission i was worried about when I started my second playthrough on hard. Luckily it only took 2 tries.

The only bad thing i can think of in a good game was in MGS3 when Eva got injured. That was a pain especially near the final stretch.

Very true. But I found that was the scene that stood out the most. At least the other characters knew it was awkward.

Most games with escort missions. Resident Evil 4 was the only one that worked because I put Ashley in a dumpster so she wouldn't get killed. More games need dumpsters during escort missions.

I would say something specific, but my mind purged all the bad escorting memories.

Yes, doing the trader quest in Fable where you have to escort these two traders through, I think Witchwood, every enemy seem to run past me and attack them... such a pain

The stealth dungeon in Wind Waker is miserable, the zero airplane missions in San Andreas are the worst, most frustrating GTA missions ever, the water temple in Ocarina of Time is notoriously awful, swining from pole to pole in Assassin's Creed 2 (this might have just been me) and worst of all are the underwater levels in Super Mario Galaxy

Is it a general rule at bungie that every halo game has to have 1 horrific level? Halo 1 and 2 had the Library, and 3 takes it up a few notches with Cortana.

Racing in GTAIV. It sucks that one mission FORCES you to

Iraq level in Splinter Cell Conviction. Seriously, this level SUCKS, everything from the gameplay to the presentation to the design of this level is terrible.

Water Temples in any Zelda game are usually really confusing.

That scene stuck out for me. I don't really remember any other weird ones, but one akward one was where Rikku was taking off her gear after being in the water. Not sure if that's what happened as my memory is pretty bad. :(

Bad Company 2.Every Battlefield game has a frustrating intro period where you don't have all your unlocks, so can't play at your full potential, but BC2 did it the worst. The Recon c1ass starts with a sniper rifle, every other c1ass gets screwed. Assault doesn't get an assault rifle or scope, Medic doesn't get any medical supplies or scope, and Engineer doesn't have vehicle repair or scope. What the hell? Basically, for the first 5 hours for any c1ass other than Recon, expect to get consistently owned, as you don't have any of the stuff you need to even earn points effectively.

-

BC2 surprised me in how poorly implemented the unlocks were. It's a great game once you get your first assault rifle, medic paddles, array of engineering gadgets, etc... but man-oh-man is it just a "well I got owned by snipers" fest until then.

Both ME and ME2 had stupid little "mini-games" that were just a nuisance most of the time. Don't know why they keep adding them in. Dragon Age didn't have any crap like that.

I didn't have that problem at all. Even playing on a couple of my friends' accounts with no unlocks, I was able to get a positive K/D ratio and complete objectives/cap flags.

It just depends on how good you are. Because my friends suck and have a lot of trouble getting kills with bad equipment, but I don't.

Half Life 2's attrocious vehicle segments, and even more lame the puzzles. They were cool and all because it was like "ZOMG PHYSICS" but than it was like "zomg it's a glorified seesaw puzzle again....hooray valve you douches)

Also all of Nintendo's best work with Zelda/Metroid that have that annoying fetch quest at the end. Seriously hate fetch quests.

The Flood in Halo

and if you want something more this year

-the quick time events in Bayonetta. They are aweful
-The homages to CIassic sega arcade games in Bayonetta. Not because of what they are homages to, but the fact that they all drag on too long and over stay their welcome in terms of play
-The mining in Mass Effect 2, so freakin boring.

Agree, it was hard to play through the whole game. Hopefully in the HD remake they don't worry too much about making it look nicer, just leave it as it is and get the framerate at 60 FPS, that'd be heavenly.

LOL the death lag in KZ2was bad, I sniped someone in the head only to see him run 10 metres and dies. Also in BFBC2 the teleportation lag, you raninside a build only to reappear in front of the door and get killed, happen so many times. And yea, the one crappy level in all Halo games.

The trick to that one is whenever you see red on the map hop off the bus and fight them on foot. You can usually draw their fireaway from the bus and only have to handle a few at a time. It takes a little longer, but beats replaying it 10 times.

For me? Someone mentioned the stealth dungeon in windwaker, that really killed it for me. Super long stealth sequences in a non stealth game in general are a pain more specifically ones where you cant use weapons. I dont mind little ones or games that give you a choice, but sometimes when its like "Spend the next hour and a half sneaking through here, and no killing." It doesnt make sense to me that i have a sword, i'm going through an area of bad guys, and i cant pick them off as i go through.

ODST doesn't have a horrific level. Closest thing is Data hive, and even that is serviceable at worst. That said you sir are correct. Halo 1-3 they set a really nice bar for aiming for worst levels possible.

Is it a general rule at bungie that every halo game has to have 1 horrific level? Halo 1 and 2 had the Library, and 3 takes it up a few notches with Cortana.wolverine4262
ODST doesn't have a horrific level. Closest thing is Data hive, and even that is serviceable at worst. That said you sir are correct. Halo 1-3 they set a really nice bar for aiming for worst levels possible.

You got me there. ODST is the exception to the rule right now. Lets hope that Reach puts the rule to bed... We should be fine if the flood dont come in.

Weried I hated every level in ODST half the time your in night vision and every thing look exactly the same just my opinion though.

SMG the levels where you have to throw the bombs to break all the boxes.

RDR
The ending when Jack replaces John when he dies. Jack is just a lot more worse than John, and over all is just more unlikeable. He looks dumb. He sounds annoying. Unlike most games, this was a deal breaker. I usually can handle a bad section or two, but this is just awful to me. I planned to play the game past the ending, but not anymore.
