Poll Baldur’s Gate III has the potential to be the greatest RPG of all time (26 votes)
When the presentation started and I saw that epic cinematic, I told myself it’s going to be great but I was wrong it was even far better than I expected !!!! But not everyone was pleased, there were some people who got mad when they saw that Larian chose the turn-based combat mode over their beloved RTWP, some said that Larian’s new game is just another sequel to Divinity Original Sin not the Baldur’s Gate they used to know.Well I agree with them to some extent, the game has a lot of similarities with DOS2-maybe because they both are using the same engine- and it didn’t look as intense and as dark as previous Baldur’s Gate games but let’s not forget that this is still a work in progress, one of the reasons that game is hitting Early Access is because Larian is going to change a lot of things about it and make it better, so what you saw is not what you get and most importantly ask yourself this question was DOS2 a bad game?

To those who blame Larian for the decision their made, I want you try to think a bit out of the box and consider that nostalgia is a sharp double-edged sword, it can bring back good old memories but it serves as a reminder of what was and no longer is, just remember why Pillars of Eternity 2 flopped. But enough about that let’s see why BG3 could be the future of RPG ….
Lot of races and classes and ultimate replayability

Failure is an option
“Some quests you get from failure. They won’t be available if you succeed on a roll. Or you’ll have relationships that develop because of successful rolls or failed rolls,” he continued. “Even if you fail something there’s usually a chance to repair it and fix it. It might be more difficult. It might take you to a different place. It might take you to a different set of dialogues or a different combat. But we don’t want to say well your entire sense of your character is broken by a bad roll.”
By the way, have you played Disco Elysium ?
You can exploit the environment and aslo …. Verticality
DnD 5th Edition streamlined a lot of things into advantage and disadvantage. One of the big drives that we had is how do we bring that in an actual way to the player? Height is a very easy one. "I have a height advantage, so, okay, let's start thinking about this. Oh, look at that, you can shove people. Well, that's interesting. Let's start shoving people. Okay, this is rather fun."
Table-Top Approach, Roll The Dice

The thing we are telling people is that we are the dungeon master. And we're just going to play DnD together. That's literally what we're doing here. I think that's an okay approach. Every single person that plays DnD has their own version of it that they're playing.
When we talked to Wizards, we initially thought this is going to be impossible because they're going to want every single rule strictly implemented. On the contrary, they're very open to [change]. There are things that they want to have in there. Then there are things they say, "Well, try to make the best out of it." That's also how they approached 5th edition towards their own players. I think that's a large reason for their success.
Playable in cooperative multiplayer
