"As the games industry continues to face complex challenges, we at Ballistic Moon are confronted with some difficult realities. It is with deep regret and a heavy heart that we must make the tough decision to significantly scale down our team to secure the future of our studio. This comes after our development of Until Dawn for PSS and PC. We want to express our sincere gratitude to every team member for their hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment to Ballistic Moon.

"Saying goodbye to such a talented and passionate group of people is incredibly difficult. and we are profoundly sorry for the impact this restructuring will have on our employees and their families. As we navigate this transition, Ballistic Moon remains focused on supporting the launch of Until Dawn and is committed to exploring new opportunities and collaborations for the future." Link

The layoff trend continues and more bad news for PlayStation Studio games.

Hopefully they dont end up shutting down, their games are very niche and dont set the world on fire.

Would've been thje perfect game to put on Game Pass to get that bag up front and broaden their customer base.

Games? More like singular unreleased game. Since it is a PlayStation Studios game it can be on PS+.😏

I was including Supermassive's games in that since Ballistic Moon was founded by devs that left Supermassive

And yea, Sony needs to suck it up and put games everywhere and stop killing studios with this exclusivity trap

This sounds exactly like what it is, overstaffed. Being more multiplatform wouldn't solve that problem.

100% accurate, especially since they were working on a remake.

So wait, devs left Supermassive to create their own studios, both make Sony exclusive deals and are struggling. Stop accepting these deals. Supposedly it doesn't cost much to pay studios to keep games off of Xbox. But that's besides the point. It's like studios/publishers think that if they keep games off of Xbox the PS community will hype the shit out of it and it'll be a guaranteed hit because everybody will praise the great exclusives of the almighty WinStation. It ain't working anymore. Cows by now all gotta be like "damn, I bought this game because everyone and their mothers said it was phenomenal but it's pretty crap, but I won't say anything because it feels good to be part of a winning team, I'll just praise these games and not buy them and just play COD and Fortnite."

That being said, Until Dawn was actually a pretty fun romp, wasn't perfect but afforded me a few unique playthroughs. But I wouldn't pay anything for an upgraded edition, fine with my old copy.

Supermassive was supposed to have the next Dark Pictures entry last year but seems delayed indefinitely. Now that Curator guy died. Why the hell they made a PSVR2 games is beyond me.

Oh well, they got this new Casting Of Frank Stone I never heard of until recently. They're supposedly working on Little Nightmares III. They're starting to sound like Platinum Games when they were whoring themselves out to everyone but never being compensated enough to gain any real independence. But there's talent there for sure, or was.

what most of those deals happen because they need funds to make there next game. most casual gamers play cod and fortnite. its the hardcore gamers that play these games.

I bought switchback to support them and yes it had a shady start but after update its a awesome experience and had a lot of fun. its my check this out game for friends and family.

thank god they make different experiences for gamers.

lay off happen all the time. you get people that dont work every day or slack or dont show up.

not supporting layoff but they do happen.

There is no one success after another. Success because of PC, megalithic failure because of Concord and hopeful success with Astrobot. After all, Ratchet and Clank sales was pretty lackluster.

Why is Sony being brought up? Ballistic Moon is a work-for-hire studio that did work for hire for Sony, turned in their efforts and went on their way. It's not a PlayStation Studios studio.

@Pedro: ratchet and clank came out at the wrong time. That's when no one could find one in store still. Besides ratchet and clank only appeals to old school playstation gamers. We're spiderman 2 sells for name alone or God of war. But helldivers2, steller blade have sold tons already. So those have been successful.

Right: a PlayStation logo. They did this game as a work-for-hire from Sony, but now that contract -- apart from whatever post-release bug-crunching is called for -- is fulfilled and ended.

PlayStation Studios. It is under the PlayStation Studios banner.

Sony bought them in 2023.

@Pedro: Exactly. These people are oddly working against Sony’s best interest in expanding their reach to other platforms.

By following losers like Microsoft in a race they can't win? 🤣🤣

They won't expand their reach they will kill it and we know this because that's literally what's happening to Xbox.

What's there options.

1. Release all first party games on PC day and date.

Pros: may sell more first party games.

Cons: Playstation sales will plummet and third party revenue will crater as users simply move to PC.

The extra sales made from first party games will not make up for the loss in third party revenue. Even if Sony did a Playstation Store launcher it would largely be ignored in favor of Steam.

As for releasing games on Xbox the platform is dying with the PS5 outselling it 5 to 1. Unlike Microsoft Sony can't afford to buy up half the industry to get into a publishing war.

@kvallyx: I guess it is a flop. Must have been a Rewoke and not a Remake. That can be the only reason.😎
