Hopefully RARE pulls out of the Downward spiral.
Microsoft spent Hundreds of Millions on them, and so far, it looks as if Nintendo left at the perfect time.

it could be refreshing no doubt about that but I hold my judgement until I see more previews n gameplay footage or luck favours then a demo! till then neither hate nor love
Geeze I just wish both sides would get over it. The old fans going "this aint Banjo!!!," get over it! Banjo was 10 years ago, if they released a collectathon game you'd probably hate it and say "this aint Banjo!!!" anyway, but it's really because Banjo is one of those games, great at the time, now, really shallow. And for the Lemmings, you shush as well. Most of you haven't even played a Banjo before and you're only hyping this because you want to beat LBP which from what I've seen aint happening.bobbetybob

he was wrong on the fact he think Banjo is trying to compete with LBP. Or that the lemmings never grew up playing the N64. There was no xbox back then.Geeze I just wish both sides would get over it. As if you know what you're talking about.
What do you think lemmings played during the PS1/N64 era?
And Banjo never was and never will be a shallow game. Not now, not when the new one releases, not ever.

It was on the Xbox so yes...

yes, and a game from the first half of last gen too. Also, the game was in mid production and then Microsoft bought the company and made RARE do a quick port to get something on their system. The game was bound to bomb, it was rushed and ported to a different system really quickly.I agree, people complain that Gears of War 2 will be more of the same, and at the same time complain about how banjo changed to much, and should be the same as the original games.opex07
Yeah, it's hard for devs to please everybody
Nope! I'd be quite content with a traditional sequel, much like I was with Twilight Princess.
It's also worth noting that you can make a non rehash, fresh sequel without nearly changing genres.

So the developers put creativity in the hands the player, allowing that more than anything to drive them through the game, and people are pissed because....? Wtf? You can use your own ingenuity and creativity to create a vehicle that will get you to through the levels, and people bemoan this?
The game is taking an obvious step forward and is one of the few examples, along with LBP and Spore, that show the future and impact of user-created content. Banjo 3 to a lesser exent than those two, of course, since it seems limited to vehicles.
RARE hasn't made a bad game this generation.CruxisXIII
This may be true, but they have also not made an above average game either. Oh yeah they ruined one of the best N64 games. Perfect Dark. I was so looking forward to using the laptop gun online. Instead I never played it online.

PDZ got good reviews and was pretty darn good for a launch game. The online kept me busy for a long time. Kameo was amazing, don't know what you're smoking and Viva Pinata is a masterpiece. If you haven't played Viva or Kameo don't bash it.(Sorry about previous post I was just angry and decided to exaggerate everything greatly).
To be honest, anything could've happened, but I think whatever RARE's done they're screwed in some way, let's break it down, imagine first they release a traditional style Banjo, all the old fans would love it.
But would the gaming market want that kind of game any more? Nowadays platformers aren't all that popular, Sure Galaxy sold well but it's Mario, it attracted the casual as well as the hardcore. Would Banjo do that? Hardly any, if any at all, kids of 12 or under will have heard of it, even fewer played it, since it came out when they were like 4. That leaves the hardcore market. Sure there'd be the fans, and the older gamers buying it from the name alone, even if it got 6's average review scores, they'd still buy it for the nostalgia rush, and they'd enjoy it unless RARE deviated a lot from the main style (like Nut's and Bolts) of the game. But would it actually sell to that middle ground, all the other gamers bought up on a diet of Halo and Call of Duty? Maybe, but it's highly unlikely it'd sell to them.
Now with the new formula I think Rare kind of screwed themselves. They lost a fair chunk of that hardcore older market, the new fans as has been demonstrated are very defensive about their series, same as a lot of series, just look at some of the RE fans when they changed it with 4. And it'll take a lot to persuade some of them to get it. They probably also don't have that casual market as much, as above, not many kids will have heard of it. They're sure to sell a few copies because it's got a big cuddly bear on the front and colourful graphics, but 360 isn't know for that market. Then you have the middle ground again, I'm sure a lot of them will be excited for the new building vehicles thing, but if RARE messes that up and it gets reall mediocre reviews. They're pretty much doomed with that market as well.
Basically RARE can't win whatever they do. Obviously that's my view of what could happen, none of that could but consider this topic is basically a "What would happen if we could live in alternate universe" topic anyway, thought I'd post a "What if I was a phsycic" post.
Indeed, they left AAA,AA, AA for MS this gen as 3, true ( controller  ) this gen games with their Opus, Banjo Nuts & Bolts & V.P. 2 yet to launch this gen ( Both AAA or AA games ) and it's ...............................................Hopefully RARE pulls out of the Downward spiral.
Microsoft spent Hundreds of Millions on them, and so far, it looks as if Nintendo left at the perfect time.

MS that got the shaft ?
Okay then, me the 360 gamer gets the shaft but - hmm - I dunno, momma told me there would be days like this.
No, I'd be saying, "Yay, another platformer!" Rare knows how to make platformers, and they should not have screwed with the formula.Video_Game_KingThis. Platformers are too rare *no pun intended* now days.
We aren't asking for a rehash. It's possible for a game to stick to it's roots while making little innovations here and there.

You think M$ cares about the critical acclaim more than the Sales? They don't. The accolades are nice, but they are supposed to help MOVE UNITS, something RARE can't seem to do like they used to.
BTW : I'm getting Banjo, but guess what, I'm camparing RARE of Yesteryear to Rare Now, and they are GOOD now, but were GREAT then. That's that.
I hope they return to GREAT status, so far, having owned every 360 and Xbox game they've made, I've not been WOWED yet.
I've missed something apparantly. What is this 'change' that Rare have implemented in BK3?super_mario_128took away all team-based moves and traditional platforming in favor for vehicles.

So Banjo Kazooie - fun = BK3?
Won't be missing much then. :(
I had B-K on N64, and it was definitely one of the best games on the console.
When I heard "B-K3" was coming, that became probably my #1 reason to get a 360. So I did... and I waited... and then I heard about "Nuts and Bolts." I went from thinking "B-K3 will be amazing" to "I hope this new Banjo turns out decent."
But I see your point--I think there are plenty of fanboys who will either praise or bash the game just because of what platform it's on, as they do with nearly every other game.

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/215474.htmlIt's pretty clear that this is not the same banjo we all know.

Do you have some sort of belief that every lemming began gaming with the Xbox?
I had an N64, i played the Banjo games. Then i bought a PS2 and GC, now i own a 360 and PS3.
