Looks like the 360 version of Batman is having trouble in territories, even those where it's userbase is twice the size of the PS3's.

http://www.gamezine.co.uk/charts/formats/xbox360/batman-aa-sells-more-on-xbox-360-in-uk-tops-charts-$1323642.htm

The sales were split in favour of the Xbox 360. Despite the latter's exclusive playable character of The Joker (one of the best features of the game in our opinion), 55 per cent of sales went to the Xbox 360 and 45 per cent to the PlayStation 3 according to numbers provided by Gfk Charttrack.

Then again, this is actually a very close sales split considering the installed base of Microsoft's console is almost twice as high as Sony's PS3 in the region.

I thought the PS3 version would outsell the 360 version everywhere because of the Joker. It seems I was wrong.

So sales matter now? Even worse a Sony fan bragging about sales when the 360 version of the game is selling better. Ok I'll bite though since sales all of a sudden matter do you admit the 360 is a better console since it has sold around 8 million more then the PS3?

So the XBOX 360 is winning and without exclusive content. I would say that is a very nice report thanks for the link.

usually we take regions into consideration specially for Europe.. this is just the chart for 1 country (UK)... i guess considering the PS3 has half of the install base compared to 360 in that country its selling nearly on par..

Yes but does it surprise you people with the option are buying the superior version with Joker DLC?

I'm not sure what the end game for Sony fans is in this thread. Claiming a victory in that their console's userbase has a proportionately stronger proclivity to buy Batman games?

They're the developers. To them, I'm sure 10,000 units difference in sales means quite a bit.

surely it makes difference to devs...

but i believe devs look at Europe as a whole not just UK so we cannot say which version sold more in EU territory until we have numbers from all european countries..

Anyway plan to get the game later on next week on PS3 due to the extra DLC, as far as sales go let the devs worry about it and we gamers enjoy the game :)

Oh and dont forget Blu-Ray cost 3 to 4x as much per disc for the dev as well so this is really bad. Sony is going to run out of feet to shoot if they have not already.

It is more a matter of hypocrisy hate. How often is this said( I can not play sales) when it is mentioned how the PS3 is last in hardware and software sales? But when a game where the PS3 version has exclusive content gets close to a 360 version then that is some win?

1 blu-Ray disc is $16.99 at Best Buy as opposed to a 5 pack of DVD's for $12.59 just as an example.

in this april 2009 article Killzone 2 passed the 1 million mark. Remember HALO3 and its $170,000,000 opening weekend? I know the cows love to compare Killzone 2 to HALO3 right up to this sobering fact.

So you are naive enough to think that devs pay the same for Blu-Ray as they do a DVD? it was simply for a real world comparison I apologise if that was lost on you.

So Killzone sucks because it didn't sell as well as Halo3!!? I'm going to throw it in the garbage can right about now! I don't want to know anything about it unless it passes the 90 million sold units mark.

ohh i see... so i guess all 360 exclusives and/or great multiplatssold 10+ millions each, right ??

considering people dont buy 360 as a blu-ray player and it has an 8 million more install base, but only a handfull of titles exceeded 5 million copies with the rest big titles selling under 3-4 million, i dont understand why PS3 haters make such a fuss about games not selling on PS3..

If game X sells3 million on intall base of 24mill and game Y sells5 million on another install base of 32 million, it means

1 out of8 got game X

1 out of6 got game Y

If it happens that many believe a large no. of PS3 owners got it as a blu-ray player being its main/only use, then looks like PS3 titles sell more when compared to install base.. But obviously PS3 haters spin things so one day PS3 sold 24million only cause many thousans/millions wanted a blu-ray player, but when it comes to sales if we compare games sales to install base in order to favour even more the 360, suddenly the 24 million become all GAMERS..

SW and its (lack of) logic :)

its stupid to list costsfor blu-ray compared to DVD, us being gamers whats importantis that PS3 games on a 'new disk medium' Blu-ray cost the same as 360 games on an older medium which is DVD when we buy them in stores...

ohh i see... so i guess all 360 exclusives and/or great multiplatssold 10+ millions each, right ??

considering people dont buy 360 as a blu-ray player and it has an 8 million more install base, but only a handfull of titles exceeded 5 million copies with the rest big titles selling under 3-4 million, i dont understand why PS3 haters make such a fuss about games not selling on PS3..

You managed to say nothing with all that text? great opinion.

I find that a bit strange since the PS3 version had the exclusive content. It's probably why it's so close even with the 360 userbase being larger. Ah well, the game is awesome no matter what, so good for them that it's selling.

Well there must be a lot of 360 owners, because getting the 360 version over the ps3 version is like buying condoms with holes in them, you just wouldn't do it.

What are you even trying to say? I for one am not a PS3 hater I own one and a Wii. I simply cannot stomach the Cows in here and their constant twisting of facts to fit their agenda. The PS3 as of today is a failure on all aspects and cannot even outsell the XBOX 360 in a multiplat title with exclusive DLC what is difficult to understand? I am guilty of not buying it for PS3 and went with XBOX because I don't even like playing my PS3 for anything other than movies. I am part of the problem with PS3 as well I just don't view it as a legitimate gaming machine AND I OWN ONE! The controller is ancient feeling the online stinks and the multiplats time and time again have been inferior, tell me what is so great about my $400.00 blu-ray player?

[QUOTE="Jandurin"]how is winning "in trouble"? especially when the losing side has exclusive content?

I was wondering this myself. This seems like flawless logic that I will start using in my everyday life.

That's pretty cool. Not really surprised, if the PS3's install base really is half of the XBox. if anything, thats pretty impressive.

As you can see I bought the 360 version and I have a PS3 as well. Controller preference pretty much. Joker challenge maps really doesnt make much of a difference to me. Played it at GS for a couple mins, was cool, but whatever. I hate the ps3 triggers.

More fool you, Everony acts like once you hold a 360 pad you can't hold a ps3 pad, the bat pack on the 360 pad is the reason i don't like it. Then there is the non analog buttons on the 360 pad, rounded stiff buttons.

So you are naive enough to think that devs pay the same for Blu-Ray as they do a DVD? sexy_robot_man
I've never said that. I was trying to point out how devs get different prices that common consumers. Something that should be common knowledge. Sorry if I lost on you.

I don't understand the point of this, the publisher would put that down to exclusive content probably, rather than a lack of interest in the game from the 360 side.

I'm getting it for the 360 but this game is as messy as this thread, PS3 gets extra character level, PC gets PhysX enhancements (which are pretty good actually), the limited edition gets extra challenge rooms.

And in this thread, on the one side you have people saying X360 userbase twice as big, yet almost as many sales on PS3. Then you have people saying well 360 gets the sales but at least PS3 get the exclusive content.

So a negative spin has been put on a positive story, because I can't see how the dev/publisher won't be happy it topped the charts and sold well on both consoles and I can't see them being surprised the exclusive content did its job by shifting some extra sales for one side.

I don't now why or how this has been spun into some sort of 360 attack :?

I only own a 360 so of course I bought the 360 version. Expect much the same account from around the world when more numbers come pouring in. Joker is nice and all but 360 owners aren't going to pass on a really good game because of such a small issue as exclusive Joker challenges. I wouldn't be surprised if 360 owners get some dlc of their own eventually especially if this game sells as well as I think it will and deserves to.
