Battlefield 2042 is $70 on XBox Series S/X but only $59.99 on PC Steam am I missing something?

I thought games on Xbox were still going to be $60 across the board with PC/Steam? We were told Sony is the only one who charges the 10 dollars extra fee by many users on here.

I know publishers decide the prices but users on here need to stop calling out Sony when Xbox games like this and others are $70.

PC's can be stronger than next gen consoles so $59.99 on Steam is cheaper for a possible better version than Xbox which doesn't make any sense.

Folks wanted to pay more for games, so developers listened. 😂

Correct me if I am wrong but the PS5 version doesn't include the PS4 version. So if you get the PS5 version with the intention of migrating to the PS5 later, you will have to get the PS4 and PS5 versions separately.🤔

Welp. Sony lost another exclusive.

From what I've seen it looks like the $70 version is ONLY the Series S/X (like Devil May Cry 5)...so if you want to play both XB1 and Series X you need to buy the 90 dollar Gold version for XB1 or PS4 which includes the cross-gen bundle.

Companies are getting good at milking the most out of gamers. I'm personally not into Battlefield so I can easily pass on this.

This will probably be 30 bucks on black Friday for people who like it but want a sale. This game probably goes free to play or something eventually just milking the most upfront from die hards day one I'd guess.

I am somehow not surprised EA not charge the extra $10 on PC. Battlefield has a large PC userbase and EA probably wants to keep their largest base happy while console users more readily accepted the price increase.

They'll keep going up as long as they keep getting away with it. And there's enough stupid people to buy it so that they will.

The worst thing is its hard for console gamers to find the new consoles as PS5/Series X are sold out.

So they might get stuck buying the last gen version and if they want the free upgrade they have to buy the gold version for $90 instead of $70....gamers getting nickel dimed on consoles.

Wait, so it's not as simple as "AAA publishers" being the big bad villains here?

I mean, not to suggest that the whole hardware industry is a bunch of effective duopolies, but it's almost like there's no real competition at all between these walled ecosystem AMD boxes. Almost like one group of investors could have some kind of interest in eliminating real, open competition and eventually skinning customers alive all for themselves.

Same reason PC games were $50 while console games were $60 a couple of generations back: everyone wants more money, but the difference is platform holder licensing fee.

As for why last gen versions don't cost as much: a) consumer expectations, and b) to create sense of greater value in the current gen versions. Again, everyone wants more money, so they're hoping to normalise $70 games as quickly as possible.

@zerothehero: Hmmm, you look familiar, I just can't remember where? Anyway, I'm getting off track. PC has always been independent and free from nasty corp. console publishers. For PC gamers, there always will be coupons/price cuts/deals available for most if not all games. Just not when they are out immediately, except in few cases. I think it is mostly console gamers who are screwed way more, but PS/Xbox stores do have price cuts as well after several months.

I don't remember the last time I bought a PC game at $60, even when buying games day 1 there are always sites offering sales to lower them to like $45 or $50. So I guess for the very few games I'm impatient for, I'll be paying around $55 to $60, everything else I'll wait until it's $20 or less.
