"They're using the same engine, the same recipe for building a game. At some point you need to take that leap. I haven't seen them take that leap since a long time ago.

DICE General Manager

The above is only a excerpt. Full article is here

What do you guys think about it?

I agree by the fact COD by putting out the samething, year after year with a change of a time period.

eh Still enjoyed COD more then I enjoyed BC 1 and 2 *horribly designed games* I just hope its maintained that BF3 is more like Battlefield...though its worrying that BF3 will have destructable enviorments, they just better design them better I got sick of destroyed buildings in BC2 capable of destroying objectives which completely killled any one actually setting charges on objectives and just blowing the building out.

I assume that comment was meant for Treyarch and Infinity Ward overall. Yeah I kind of agree with them, Actually I do agree with them.

He's not wrong at all, sadly as you can see, many gamers don't care. Tough I wouldn't call most of CoD's fan base gamers to begin with, but hey.

Pretty good statement and I agree with him 110%. I mean we haven't got that great gaming "breakthrough" yet. I mean there's only so much you can do before you start creating the same thing over and over.

He makes a good point. Some dev companies find that happy medium between producing a high-budget game and re-using as much as possible in order to cut down costs. It makes sense, as they want to increase their profit margins, unfortunately it stagnates many games.

Yea. IDK though, BF3 is the first game in a long time that I haven't had any doubts about. I know it's really dangerous going into a game like that, but I just have 0 concern and I trust Dice fully.

I've never been personally let down by Dice. Other than MoH, but other than that, they are great. I'm sure BF3 will live up to the hype.

Most likely, we have seen the same game, just redesigned for the past 4 years.

I find that to be a smart business choice, but over time, people are going to get sick of playing the same thing over and over again. Better to have some people split from the regular team to develop a new engine.

I feel the same way, I'm not worried about BF3 being bad at all, in fact I'm quite sure it will be a terrific game. Just don't want to see DICE get too full of the fact that everyone things their game is amazing and make it less than its potential seems to be.

Exactly. Unfortunately, companies nowadays just don't want the extra expense. It's good to see at least some are willing to push the envelope rather than rehashing engines/assets etc.

True, true. There's an old saying I hear often, companies are there to maximize profit. They'll do anything to get just an ounce more of profit out of anything, including milking a series and in time, burying it to the ground.

He is right. I am sick of the COD devs using a modified Quake 3 engine, with the money they make they can easily make a new engine.

As for Medal of Honor, they only worked on the multiplayer and while not that good it's graphics still beat the COD games.

Have you played COD on hardcore? BTW, it's hard to camp if you're an attacker in BC2 because it's nearly impossible to win.

But that's only because they want the money to roll in. If they cared about their customers, (EA trying to do that, still failing there) then we might get something better out of it, and in the future, the lost profit might just come in.

For your info, not every m-com is in a building, not every building can be destroyed, and the latest patch increased the damage of the m-com so trying to blow it up is nearly impossible unless the other team is really dumb.

Yeah, DICE only did the multiplayer of it, but apparently that was as bad as the campaign. MoH looked like a CoD knock-off from day one.

But Battlefield 3 looks ace, no doubt. Here's hoping it's as good as it looks.

Ain't that the truth. They're probably already thinking of gold bars instead of dollar bills. For sure man. Yup, and many "gamers" just bend over, and take it and feel "great" about it. How, when you know you are playing the same game you played 4 years ago, and yet you just paid $240 USD just for the games! Not even counting the $100+ on map packs!

They do have what...4 developers working on CoD? I don't see why they couldn't let one of them build a new engine, or use another licensed engine. The graphics are ok for such an old engine. The terrible static environments, weak animations, and piss poor physics is what kills it. I almost forgot what it was like to shoot a cup in a game and it not do a damn thing :?

I've really loved everything from DICE and Bad Company 2 is still one of my favorite online multiplayer games, if not my very favorite. Right now I'm really into Killzone 3.

But he's right, look at COD, its looked basically the same since Modern Warfare, there's been like 4 games in the series since then.. And they all play exactly the same.

Yup, 4 developers is correct, with appraently 3 of the 4 working on the brand new one coming up. Agreed on all those, I would like the game to have a little more sense of realism like having the cup destroyed along with the fruit. (COD 4, watermelons could be cut/shot in half, BO: Tons of fruit in the stands of Cracked, can't do anything to them). Plus, I would like some better graphics thank you very much.

Sry need to clarify, I was talking about squad deathmatch. Also I would imagine the first mutltiplayer game ever created would have had their spawn system, it is the worst spawn system I've encountered.

Well Activision owns the CoD name, so they kind of have to have them. Publishers can be a great thing for a developer. Only Activision, as well as EA to some extent, give publishers bad names.

Whats sad is that Bf3 could be the best multiplayer shooter ever made and MW3 could be the worst turd in history and it would outsell BF3.

All i have to say is:

Medal Of Honor

DroidPhysX

You really think DICE had anything to do with that multiplayer? Sure EA slapped their name on the box to bring in more sales, but the most any DICE employee did with that mulitplayer was make the engine work, they had no say in the gameplay.
