Battlefield 3 IGN on Consoles, Not looking good (PS3 Build)

So IGN says there are difference, quite a bit, but the PS3 version of the game looks good still. The game was running 30 FPS WITHOUT "Before the demo started, EA and DICE listed the elements that were missing from the pre-alpha build including the destruction of structures and cover, certain textures, and additional detail". Adding that they don't know if the consoles can handle the textures will 24 people are shooting it out with jets, and etc going around. Pesonally, I'm not expecting a lot out of the consoles as the lack of videos, trailers showing console only footage, PC version I know will rock. Gotta a bad pc though lol, thoughts folks?

Pretty much this.. I don't see how the current generation of consoles could run this game well.

Considering the original Bad Company wasn't even on PC, its pretty easy to say that the BC series was not a successor to BF2. BC was a console series.

I think it's more the GPU's. My PC CPU is almost 5 years old (Q6600 @3.1 GHz), and I still don't feel like upgrading the CPU. Going from a 8800 GTS to a HD 5850 in 2009 helped a lot though.

That Operation Metro trailer doesn't show anything new, and all the footage in that video were PC snippets.

They used snippets from the PS3 build that is publicly playable at Comic-Con... The trailer came out alongside the opening of Comic-Con. Put 2+2 together and it doesn't equal 96. It is equal to 4. They are showing the PS3 build. That trailer was PS3 footage(not to mention the fact that it was first posted on the Playstation Blog).

... The pre-alpha build lacks some destruction of structures. Some of it is still present, they just don't have all of it enabled(this is probably also true of the Alpha build).

Yeah performance is the only thing that's going to be worse. Then again its supposed to be 720p and MLAA also. CoD refuses to advance past 1024x600 (and actually went lower for Black Ops) and 2xAA (FXAA or MLAA too complicated for that poor id tech 3 engine? awwww) BF3 WILL put a dent in MW3 sales.

Not to mention the latest CoDs look as good as some kind of indie game.

God look at all the people in comment sections saying "haha $1000 PCs going to waste, PS3 FTW derp!" If those screens weren't so small you could actually see a lot of the differences.

Where are you getting such an ignorant perspective from? I've watched this video again and again, they're virtually identical in graphical detail; in some instances, like at 0:14, the PS3 even has better lighting and I can see the trees much clearer. Really, the main difference between console and PC is that the PC can handle more players because its GPU can handle more polygon count and processor renders it faster. I don't know about you, but 16 on 16 is more than enough competition.

I couldn't give a **** more about the "64 players per match on PC" **** Everyone repeating same thing over and over, have fun experiencing tremendous lag on those servers, you clearly haven't played any massive PC game before. Shiny graphics increase latency, which increases overall latency, which increases LAG.

Also did no one notice that the building on the PS3 version is different from the PC version? It looks like they changed it to something static and changed detail so it improves performance :lol: Just look at the character model when the van gets shot at with the RPG! The console version is blocky like something from the beginning of this gen! Not to mention the texture is extremely bad.

That comment section makes me loose IQ points :(
