SAUCE

"If you give the player the choice to act good or bad, they will do bad, because that's what's cool. They won't be caught."

"In a game where it's more authentic, when you have a gun in your hand and a child in front of you what would happen? Well the player would probably shoot that child."

"Me personally, I'm trying to stay away from civilians in games like BF because I think people will do bad. I don't want to see videos on the internet where people shoot civilians. That's something I will sanitize by removing that feature from the game."

Well done DICE, well done. Good for them for trying to create a good military shooter, single-player campaign where it doesn't rely on shock or controversy.

they know the audience, cod did it on purpose not only for shock value but for the lulz and the funny part about it being "needed" for the story....The execution was weak

EDIT: talking about "no russian" level

well they said it would make the story more indepth and needed to be part of the storyline(which it kind of did) but the story was so messy that it just seemed like a waste

I thought No Russian was pretty powerful to be honest, but the story that followed the mission ruined it. In regards to their decision, don't think I could care less.

CoD wants to make a level that lets you massacre civilians in the airport by the hundreds...that's ok!

Six Days in Fallujah wanted to show people what really happened over there and using 100% accurate and realistic information. NO NO NO!! BOYCOTT BOYCOTT!

Something like No Russian can work if you have a writer who isn't an 8 year old. Seriously the amount of plot holes in MW2 is quite frankly impressive.

I thought the amount of first-person executions was impressive. Honestly, you control like 6 characters in MW2 and they all get shot in the face.

It was cool in CoD4, but MW2 decided it was cool enough to execute you ever other level. Oh, and Captain Price survived. You wanna talk impressive? Captain Freaking Price survived being shot in the head in CoD4. Also, Soap has a voice. Until Price comes back from the dead. Then Soap never talks again.

Man, who doesn't love MW2's campaign?

And No Russian actually did little to the story of Modern Warfare 2.

Granted the Guy is right, Give people the opportunity to Kill Civilians like Fable, Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, Elder Scrolls, etc...They WILL. Why? It's a Game, No Consequences unless They're coded into the game. Heck in a Game like Battlefield you're still killing another Human Being who may have a Family of their own and they're just fighting for what they think is right.

I know it was ultimately pointless... but it really wasnt a weird experience to play from that perspective... not as a likeable protagonist that kills random civilians because a mob boss told him too... but to be a really evil antagonist and purposely mowing down people in an airport. It was shocking no doubt, and was done to cause controversy... but that level was a different kind of experience.

Long before I ever played the awful MW2 campaign I read quite a few articles from the gaming media about how MW2 "took a huge emotional risk that paid off."

Not that I'm against depicting immorality, but MW2 handled the depiction of that scenario with the same maturity of the 11 year old who wrote it.

Even though No Russian was a publicity stunt and pretty arbitrary, at least they had the balls to stick with it in the face of all the controversy.

I dont he's saying people do it to LOOK cool... but just to do it. I admit, if there is a chicken, dog, or any other animal in any game I play... usually the first thing I do is try to kill it, just to see if the devs will let you. lol.

Heavy Rain did the best job of handling morality of any game I can recall. I didn't kill that guy with the shotgun.

as much as i like the Bluffer's guide feature gamespot has, their deus ex coverage got me into a huge discussion about "why the hell can you shoot kids in this game, and why bethesda made sure it wasn't possible on their games". glad DICE is sparing me the trouble.

I agree with dice their fanbase is very immature. I remember a mission like that in MW2

i didn't shoot not one civilian. When playing fable, Kotor, DA, mass effect etc i never play as evil.

Oh boohoo, it's a video game DICE If it's controversial then all you'll end up doing is getting more sales. All this modern PC is such sadness.

Dice got moral issues? Why do they complaining about shooting annoying kids in games and then going and make War games like that is any better...

Why dont they make something like "My little poney/Barbie" -game or something.

A little off topic, but for some reason that made me think of that actor boycott in the hangover 2 with mel gibson, even though they were cool with mike tyson in the first one.

Hmm all I know is that I really liked being the upstanding citizen in Red Dead. That game kind of made you be one anyway though, for the most part.
