I don't really care about that. The only thing that concerns me about this game is whether the online will work well, or be the laggy turd that BC2 was.

The SP will likely not be worth renting for, let alone purchasing.

So those very few extra pixels made that big of a performance drop? I wonder which console is gonna have some slight pixels that should be a different color so we can declare that one is superior :roll:

Conspiracy Theory: Maybe the PS3 couldn't handle it all (hint Crysis 2) and since it would be embarassing to have the lead console version(PS3) be subHD, they also subHD'd the 360 version as well.

I don't understand this graphics king debate . if a game isn't running at true HD why does it suddenly look like crap in some peoples opinion .

I'll still be buying BF3 on pc and enjoying my 60fps though:P

A sub HD game on consoles. I'm shocked. Really.
I don't understand why some people claim you can't notice the difference between sub HD and HD. I play on a 1080p set up, and the differences are immediately apparent. Don't get me wrong, though. Sub HD doesn't automatically mean a game looks like crap. I just think it's relatively easy to spot the difference. Maybe PC gaming has spoiled me.

On which system was this so-called "alpha trial?"

I'm talking about consoles, and the bottom of the barrel servers EA uses for the games they put on them. BC2 had major sync issues for months. Rubber-banding like crazy, but the hit detection was perfect. They "fixed" the sync issues, which led to lagginess and poor hit-detection.

First of all,its virtually 720p,because they are using tilled deferred rendering its easier to go for 704p than push for 720p,they pay bigger price than normally for that.Plus,game won't be uspcaled,it will have black tracks on bottom and top of the screen(like RE1 and RE2) and it should be even sharper than.

Virtually 720 =/= 720p. The game will be upscaled if it's delivering a 1280x704 signal. Unless you turn off scaling on your TV, then it's going to upscale. It's not going to be sharper, it's going to look washed out.

Why the heck are we using black bars in a damn video game anyway!? Hate them in movies, I'll hate them in games. I'm getting the PC version but still that sounds ridiculous.

To put this in perspective of what it means on their end for memory/tiling.

1280(Horizontal Resolution) * 720(Vertical Resolution) * 4(RGBA Channels) * 5(Multiple Render Targets for Deferred Shading) = 18432000 bytes for Framebuffer.

vs

1280(Horizontal Resolution) * 704(Vertical Resolution) * 4(RGBA Channels) * 5(Multiple Render Targets for Deferred Shading) = 18022400 bytes for Framebuffer.

Tiling in eDRAM on the Xbox 360 means each tile needs to fit in 10 MiB(10*1024*1024 bits), which with 8 bits/byte, works out to 1310720 bytes.

18432000 / 1310720 = 14.0625 tiles

18022400 / 1310720 = 13.75 tiles

Because render targets need to be padded 80*16 on the Xbox 360 because of the hardware multisampler, that means that the next step down from 1280*720 is 1280*704.

It literally comes down to preventing an additional tile from needing to be used on the Xbox 360.

And on the PS3, since everything bites into the overall RAM, anything that can be freed up is useful. Since the Xbox 360 is forcing them to do it anyway, why not make the PS3 that was as well since it opens up a bit of RAM and reduces the pixel processing performance by 2%(Pixel Shader in the RSX causes Vertex Shader to stall, so any reduced pixel shader strain is definitely a benefit).

Think he means something like this.... Not sure if other games have done this, but its the only one I have noticed it in. So if thats the case scaling wont be need to to be done by the console. Unless your playing on a 1080p TV scaling will be done by the TV :P

Interesting Resistance 3 has way lower resolution and no one cares..interesting..also i remember when the ps3 version was shown everyone went crazy saying that ps3 version was going to be the better one..love how the tables turned now!.

Overscan should chop a lot of those lines anyway (unless you've set your TV up not to do so). I'm not too concerned.
