i actually beat the campaign and i thought it was amazing, it isn't anything like black ops like most say. They say the whole interagation thing is, but even that isn't like black ops really. I just think in my opinion with all of the shooters ive played, its the best. Call of duty's is 100 percent chaos from begining to end, but BF3 has more of a rainbow six feel to it

The campaign was pretty terrible to be honest. But the multiplayer was great.

lolwut?

I despised the campaign with a fiery passion.

Multiplayer is easily best MP this year though.

The campaign in Battlefield 3 was nothing more than an elongated tech demo with quick time events; it was the complete opposite of what video games should be. Not a single segment in that campaign felt like it was original, new, different or managed to get me on the edge of my seat. Which is a real shame because DICE could have taking the time to create a unique game that played off the elements that make Battlefield, Battlefield, but we didn't.

Battlefield 3's campaign can be summed up with one equation. f(x) = f(x+h) - f(x) / h^2, where h =/= 0.

Campaign and Co-Op are a waste of time. Multiplayer is dumbed down for consoles, as with the entire game. It's been recieved as a flop critically and a huge disapointment by the fans. In no way whatsoever does Battlefield 3 deserve any accolades.

Overall, game is alright. Campaign is horrible. But the community is crap. Hackers, cheaters, whiners, and the teamplay was thrown out the window at EA headquarters.

Campaign was atrocious. I actually don't understand how anybody could even find it remotely enjoyable apart from the graphics on PC. Multiplayer on the other hand is legit.

I found the campaign to be pretty standard shooter wise. Gears 3 was way better in that regard however. I found the BF3 campaign to be thoroughly enjoyable. Go here, shoot stuff. Go there, stuff. Mission accomplished. Fun stuff.

MP was amazing IMO. Too bad I hardly play anymore due to school and other interests and such. Was a great game. Still need to DL my Karkand maps.

i agree a bit with the campaign, it's not really bad, and i thought it had its moments (i really enjoyed the sniping mission and thought that the soldier death scene was well put, even though you barely get to relate to the soldier being shot). the best way i could describe it in one word would be "harmless".

Yeah, I really don't see the massive hate for the campaign. It's basically the same thing everywhere else. Granted, I never played Resistance, Killzone etc.

But for a shooter these days, what do you expect? An oscar winning plot? An insane amount of variety? Not too many ways you can play with the "terrorists shooting at you shoot em back" formula.

It was a good fun romp before I went to MP. I found the soldier death scene sad actually, poor little kid and his T-Rex toy. :(

Dinosaur mode should be a legit thing. T-Rexes stompin all over tanks and Pteradactyls ripping Jets out of the air FTW.

they pulled a very cheap trope there though. "hey i'm two days from retirement, nothing can go wrong. oh i love life so much, my wife and kids waiting for me, hey did you know it's my birthday? oh how i love being alive, i'm so glad nothing will happen to me!"

EDIT: link for your entertainment :P

Gears of War 3 was by far the best shooter of 2011. I was actually pretty disappointed by all the other major shooters (BF3, MW3, Resistance 3, KZ3, Crysis 2).

The SP is not the best for a shooter. I would say Crysis 2 was better than BF3 in terms of SP (I have not played MW3).

But BF3 easily has the best MP.

While the SP campaign was slightly above average, its mp is awesome and surely BF3 was imo the best fps last year..

I also enjoyed KZ3, MW3 & Brink !!!

The campaign is pretty woeful, to be honest, around 5 hours of pretty graphics, endless quicktime events and uninspiring plots. The multiplayer is really good fun, on the other hand, at least on some of the maps (Caspian, Firestorm, Kharg, Canals and the B2K maps).

I find the mention of the quicktime events to be absolutely absurd.

There was a few, but the way they are referred to around here it's like here was a QT Event every 5 seconds. That's just pure hyperbole.

More like best multiplayer shooter. The singleplayer was abysmal. Resistance 3, Crysis 2, and even MW3 had far superior campaigns.

nah

bulletstorm, sure it was short but it had gameplay that tried something new and it delivered good gameplay in spades.Who cares if it was short there was a lot of fun parts in it and doing some of the challenges were entertaining aswell, shame the multiplayer seemed a bit dry though :(

I'm being a lot more entertained by Crysis 2, Modern Warfare 3, Killzone 3 and Gears of War 3. Battlefield 3 was a disappointment to me, and I wasn't incredibly excited about it in the first place. Horrible singleplayer, but fun multiplayer. Not brilliant, but fun.

The campaign is pretty mediocre... but it is a nice to look at graphically.

The reason to buy the game though is the multiplayer, which makes it the best shooter of 2011, your sarcasm aside.

I am a huge BF fan, but its was only the best MP shooter, its campaign was not at all the best, and the co-op was just okay.

Idk what the best singleplayer shooter of the year is, but its definitely not MW3 or BF3.

The campaign is probably the worst FPS campaign I've ever experienced. And I'd say the most fun shooter, mechanics wise, of 2011 was actually Rage, yes I know that may seem blasphemous, but the gunplay was just good proper fun.

Best game with shooting, probably Deus Ex: HR

Best multiplayer BF3. However, Dice really pisses me off with some of their decisions with 'art' direction or camera position in vehicles::granny plastered to windscreen mode-engaged::
